We stayed at the Alila for five nights in January. The place is wonderful. Setting is like high desert in New Mexico or Arizona. Reminded us of one of our favorite resorts, the Enchantment in Sedona Arizona. Main building has great restaurant and spa, overlooking an extraordinary canyon and mountain range. Staff from all over world. We took day trip to Nizwa, and a half day hike up a wadi. The hotel does a good job of arranging. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. Temp at this time of year, in Fahrenheit, is 50s at night and high 60s or low 70s in day. It is an “active” place, with hiking and, for the very adventurous and well-balanced, via ferrata.
If you have never thought of taking a vacation to Oman, think again. While we found the entire country to be a fascinating blend of history, culture and natural beauty, the highlight of our vacation was our 3 night stay at Alila Jabal Akhdar. It is impossible to fully describe what a beautiful property this is, in a very remote area in the Hajar Mountains perched on the top of a ledge overlooking craggy mountain peaks and a gorge below. The rooms reminded us of the luxurious Singita safari camp in South Africa and the staff is charming and available to satisfy all of your wants and needs. The food is great (you have to eat all meals at the hotel as there are no restaurants nearby), especially the dinner with numerous high quality choices, including many Omani specialties. The restaurant team, led by Mudassar Nazar, is wonderful, friendly and very helpful. If you enjoy hiking there are a variety of options both easy and extremely challenging - the Lost Village hike guided by a local Omani man was a highlight and very demanding. We did not use the spa but it looked great. We would have liked to lay by the pool but our visit was in January and the temperatures were fairly cold as we expected. We cannot praise the hotel enough for showing us a fabulous time. …
The property is very beautiful, but there were some hiccups in the service. When we arrived, we requested to exchange the cokes in the minibar for diet cokes and were told no — if we wanted diet cokes, we could go buy them at the bar. We called down for ice, since there isn’t an ice machine available for the guests. After 30 minutes, we gave up on it and went to the bar to get it ourselves. The small indoor pool and outdoor jacuzzi were far too cold to enjoy, so we asked them to turn up the temperature. (The outdoor pool was very cold, too.). Nothing happened. “High season” is the winter and they should be better prepared for the guests to enjoy the amenities, especially at a 5-star hotel with basic rooms costing more then $700/night. We had signed up for yoga, which was supposed to be outdoors at 9. Then we were told it would be at 10. So, we skipped yoga to start our hike earlier, only to find that yoga was at 9 anyway. Definitely a disconnect in communication. The rooms were nice and the views were terrific. The restaurant food and staff were great. These deserve a 5 of 5. I’m basing the 4 of 5 rating on the other issues.…
All was excellent. Staff is very professional and friendly. They are proactive and very accommodating. Facilities are very good and very well maintained. The food is very tasty. Several outdoor activities may be planned. The whole experience was a great experience, so I strongly recommend it to anyone.
Spectacular hotel with an incredible view. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in a special place. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful mountain view. We participated in several of the hotel activities including sunset yoga, meditation, archery and the via ferrata. Highly recommended!
Staying at Alila Jabal Akhdar was one of the most extraordinary experiences of an extraordinary honeymoon. The location is indescribably magnificent, the adventures are unforgettable and the hotel is simply marvellous. The warmth, hospitality, helpfulness, courtesy and service were fabulous. Most of all, we will never forget the adventures we had from the Via Ferrata to the hikes through wadis and over mountains.
You have to test the Via Ferrata But if not, others activities are very interesting both for patents and childrens Spa and Pools are also ways to experiment Decoration inside and outside our tremendous
This is one of the resorts that really worth a stay at least once in a lifetime. Great place, we stayed in a loft suite for a couple of days and we enjoyed every single detail of this great resort immersed in a spectacular landscape of the mountains of Oman. We’ll come back!
Stopped by during the last week of December and were admitted for a side inspection and lunch although the hotel was fully booked. Having seen this hotel growing from its construction, pre-opening and early opening days it needs to be mentioned that it has grown from great to fantastic. Well trained and very engaging Team members. Looking forward to return back and spend some longer period to enjoy the most. Keep it up!
The hotel room, location, the activities, the staff, so thoughtful. The spa, my therapist, Nur, she is so kind, so great, I love this hotel so much. All the food are amazing, and we love stargazing so much. We hope to come back soon and to stay in this special hotel!
