Magical place! We’ve been to many places in the midlands but this is one stop we will always return to. Wonderful adventures begin from your doorstep - kids heaven! The two forest cottages are our favorite. Special place, with priceless memories owned by a very special couple, Helen and Brandt.

The Wood Owl cottage allowed for privacy and peace in at least 3 outdoor beautiful spaces. The tranquility was greatly enhanced by the extremely well appointed cottage which had many delightful touches of care. We will definitely return here,

We look a last minute escape with our two dogs to stay in the beautiful Wood Owl Cottage. Helen and Barnend are phenomenal hosts who made us feel right at home making everything from the booking process to the welcoming and our stay nothing short of warm and relaxing. You have 100% peace of mind to let your dogs run freely in the expansive and beautiful gardens which are fully fenced (even for small breeds). The 3 resident Labradors are full of energy and just love to play with you and your dogs and camped outside our cottage late into the night in hopes of a play date. The Wood Owl Cottage has just about everything you need to enjoy your stay. The private deck with the cutest built in braai peers through the forest and this made for a beautiful spot to enjoy the morning sunshine and a coffee. The indoor fire place was also thoroughly enjoyed by all and is also “dog friendly” by means of a fully closed off door. Fresh dog beds are provided which makes your packing that much lighter. On your door step is the swimming pool which is for use by all guests (and their dogs ;) ) There is no oven in the unit so be sure to bring microwaveable and stove top meals (we forgot to check in advance), however there are plenty of spots nearby to enjoy a meal. There is also no fan in the unit (again we did not ask for one so be sure to ask in advance or bring your own if staying during the warmer months). It goes without saying that being in the country, especially during Summer, there are lots of flies and bugs so bringing along a Citronella Candle could be helpful. (Peaceful Sleep is provided in the cottage). These factors however did not dampen our stay. It was as much a holiday for us as it was for our dogs :) Thank you so much for providing such an amazing pet friendly getaway. It honestly felt so good for the soul and nothing made our hearts happier than seeing our “city” dogs adventuring in your beautiful home and making friends. We will definitely be back. Thank you Steph, Josh, Scally & Luna

Helen and Barend are the most welcoming hosts one could ask for, they instantly make you and your fur babies feel like family in their beautiful home away from home. The grounds are spectacular with out-of-this-world views, the accomodation is exquisite and is maintained beautifully and the hosts are nothing but helpful and accomodating. You do not go wanting when staying at Crab Apple and it is a once in a lifetime experience that everyone should endeavour to enjoy! Thank you to Helen, Barend, the staff and your awesome furry friends for making our stay so memorable!

How to even begin, after a tragic loss in our family, my husband and I needed to get in the car and drive away for the day. we loaded up the doggies (our children) and just drove, no plan. After 4 hours of driving and 2 restless babies we began frantically searching for a place to just chill and escape the world. After phoning over 10 places we contacted Helen, an earth angel. She opened up her home and beautiful place of peace and healing. We were able to just rest and escape for a few hours. Helen, thank you, in fact thank you wouldn't even express how grateful we are for what you did for us. We will return in happier times and really take in all the beauty... xxx
