Stayed at katoji apartments with my family of four for five days. The location is superb. Right on the (sandy with a few pebbles) beach. You will need a car of course in order to get around. There is a nice beach bar right in front of the apartments which plays soft music and serves not only drinks but also decent quality and reasonably priced breakfast and lunch.
The staff is polite and helpful. Served our every need with a smile.
The apartments are clean but not very spacious. The bathroom of the one we stayed in was tiny.
Lots of problems with the wi-fi connection.
Overall katoji is a good value-for-money-choice. I would return.

We are a 4 persons family and stayed in the 2 bedrooms appartment. The appartment was clean, facilities adequate. The great thing is that you are only a few steps away from the sea and the sandy (with some pebbles) beach and the Caribbean Beach Bar. All u need is there, drinks, refreshments, snacks at reasonable prices. Sunbeds and umbrellas at your disposal, of course. A really nice place to spend quality holidays, relax by the sea, enjoy cocktails or ice-coffee. Plus, great music playing... And last but not least, very nice and polite people: all personnel are there to help and make sure you enjoy your holidays. "I am here to make sure you are on holidays, sir" a staff member told me; and that was true.
Thank you all

+1
One of the worst rooms we've ever seen. We booked a room for 15 days and left immediately after the first night. The room is so small that makes a prison cell look like a football field. Don't believe me? Look at the pictures i'm including.
But it's not only that. They charge you extra for cleaning services but they don't tell you that when you book the room. There is also extra charge for toilet paper (!)
Beds are very small (there is no way they can put bigger beds in the room because of the size of the room). I'm 1.83cm and my legs, from knee down, where hanging out of the bed.
The building is very old and has no thermal insulation resulting very hot rooms. You can not stand in the room with out the air condition on.
They claim there is wifi in the room but we never manage to connect (at least from our room No6). There was wifi but only at the beach bar.
And last but not least rooms are at the 1st floor. Underneath the rooms there is a kitchen that serves the restaurant and the beach bar. The kitchen has very bad air ventilation resulting to smells from burned oils in the rooms above.
All in all a disgrace for Greek tourism.

Fantastic
Location
Pansion Katoji is located on a wonderful beach with spectacular views across the Messenian Gulf to beautiful mountains that separate this part of the Peloponnese from Sparta. I have to say that the views really are fantastic.
The apartments are approximately 10 minutes walk along the main road to the supermarket and first Taverna - Allegro (which is also run by the family that owns Katoji). Within another 2 minute walk and you’ll find the other 4 tavernas. There is also a friendly bar (that plays pop music and shows sports). The village is small and quiet but very friendly.
Katoji has a great beach bar. It’s been built very cleverly and has a ‘Caribbean/Pirate’ theme that works well with the surroundings. Food is served 09:00 to 18:00 but the bar stays open til approx 21:00.
The food is great and plentiful. The food and drinks are well-priced. This end of the beach has 2-3 beach bars. The other end has no beach amenities so far as we could see - although that’s where most of the tavernas are for evening meals.
Our apartment was very good. It had a kitchen with fridge and cooker (which we didn’t use), a small bathroom, aircon and a very nice balcony with sea view.
All of the staff at Katoji, the beach bar and Allegro (effectively the same staff) were excellent. They were friendly and super-efficient - food and drink was delivered very quickly whether we were sat in the beach bar or on sunbeds on the beach itself. I recommend taking time to chat with them.
Chrani is set on a main road. It took us a while to get used to the walk along the main road - but we did. Chrani was pretty quiet in September. There’s not much to do apart from eat, drink, relax and take it the views. That suited us fine. Allegro did have a night of Greek music which went down very well. But, apart from that, there is no nightlife per se.
We loved our stay - made even more enjoyable by the staff who did everything with a smile. They couldn’t have done more to help us have a great holiday. We did - and we hope to return.
