The rooms are outstanding and ours had a fine little desk with its own view, the sort of thing many hotels miss.

An unexpected plus was that the internet was fast and reliable.

Oh, and the Wifi actually works, so I stayed on top of emails etc - you know, working trip... Enough said.

You feel welcome the moment you arrive, even before being greeted by the helpful staff. You can sit in the comforting dining room or on the terrace overlooking the garden that heads in the direction of Mt Kenya. Food is really good: fresh, local and well cooked. Wine list is above average. Service is very good too. Impressive.

We stayed a night at the Soames again this year after our Wildmedix Mountain Medicine trip on Mt Kenya with African Ascents. After nearly two weeks on the mountain camping it was such a good way to finish up the trip with comfy beds, hot showers, and great food at the Soames.

Somehow they always welcome us with a smile despite our arrival from the mountain in muddy boots and dirty hiking gear! This year we arrived a bit earlier and so were able to enjoy a delicious lunch and glass of wine while lounging in the sun enjoying the views of the mountain. Their restaurant is always good, and the bar service is excellent.

They kindly put aside a private room for our group for dinner in the evening so that we could give out awards and screen a short film we'd made. The dinner was a really good 3 course meal, and the bar staff kept us well stocked with white caps, wine and G&Ts!

Despite our early start the next morning the kitchen staff managed to make us all cappucinos and cooked breakfasts before the group headed back to the airport in Nairobi.

Thanks again to all the staff at the Soames for your hospitality and warm welcome. We look forward to coming back again next year!

+1
The cottages are spacious, private. They all face Mt.Kenya, so if lucky you can catch a glimpse of the tip early morning.
The staff especially the Bar Man are very friendly. Fantastic food. Breakfast closes quite early & they have no room service. So a down side for those who enjoy sleeping in on weekends. Will definitely be back !!

The whole of the hotel has great views of Mt Kenya. The rooms are separate cottages with two bedrooms ensuit with separate entrance entry and veranda. The main house is very nicely decorated and good possibility for sitting inside and outside. The whole hotel is clean and with good ambience. Very nice quiet rooms. I would like to return.
