After waiting for quite some time to visit this restaurant, I finally got here as a belated Christmas gift from my husband. It was spectacular from the minute we walked in the door. The service was excellent, and the food was prepared with exquisite detail. Everything had that extra little something. Highly recommended for that special occasion.

We just arrived home from celebrating our sixth anniversary at the Inn and I couldn't wait to describe the truly special time that we had. This is our second visit to see Patrick O'Connell's rare jewel. The luxurious inn and restaurant never disappoints. Chef O'Connell is a gracious host, we felt like we had entered his gorgeous private home and were welcome guests. We enjoyed our second time at the chef's table and YES - it absolutely is "the most beautiful kitchen in the world". We were delighted again with the unbelievable show that is Patrick's kitchen. Not only are the meals undescribable...the accommodations truly are special as well. The attention to detail is exquisite in each room.
The Inn at Little Washington should be on everyone's "bucket list". It is a treasure and I am already longing for my next visit to spend time admiring Patrick and his wonderful staff!

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Inn at Little Washington, and knew that it was going to be a grand experience based on friends' prior visits and other reviews we read. From the moment we pulled up, it was as if we were whisked into a completely different world. From the staff to the decor to the linens on the bed, everything was absolutely perfect! We stayed in a suite, with a giant bathroom and separate living room area with a fireplace, done in impeccable style and was warm and cozy. Honestly, it is the only hotel room that has ever brought me to tears!! We loved the personalized note from Mr. O'Connell, what a lovely touch!! The restaurant personalized our dinner menu with "Happy Birthday" and my name, and several staff continued to stop by with birthday greetings throughout our visit. And believe the hype about the restaurant. Imagine bottling up heaven and pouring it into every single dish (and the service)!! If I could do one thing over, it would be to arrive earlier and stay later so we could have had tea and explore the town a bit more and maybe stop at a winery. I imagine the grounds are gorgeous in early spring and fall (unfortunately it was cold and rainy our entire visit). While a night at the Inn including dinner is mighty expensive, it was worth every single penny. Thank you so much to the Inn staff for making our visit so special, we will definitely be back!!

Although the ambiance is outstanding, we were disappointed with the service. The waiters were confused about white wine only to be served with appetizer, were not conversant on the subtleties of items on the menu, and overall rushed us through our meal.
Since we were staying overnight at the inn, there should have been no hint of rushing.
The food was exceptional. but not world-class. The white meat on my braised rabbit was dry, and the sauce tepid.
Afternoon tea was also a disappointment, with only a few choice goodies. It could not be accruately called "high tea".
In all, a transporting two day adventure, but will be remembered more for the decor and hotel service than the restaurant service or food.
Sorry !

We live about two hours from the Inn, just outside Washington, DC, and have heard about The Inn at Little Washington for a long time. Could a place really be THAT great? Yes! My husband and I went on a Sunday to celebrate 12 years of marriage and had a wonderful time. Check-in: They knew our names and were expecting us! Cocktails and tea while we waited for our room to be ready (we got there at 2pm, rooms are ready at 3pm). After enjoying ourselves in the garden with koi pond, we checked out the sheep and the llamas, the vegetable garden and shops. The room: OMG! Fabulously decorated (we stayed in the "Julia Child" room), two balconies and a giant bathroom. This junior suite was sweet! Very comfy bed; jacuzzi tub. Dinner: There is a reason the restaurant is always in the top 10 in the country. Amazing food and excellent service. Get the cheese - that was a show not to be missed. Breakfast: Very nice; the hot breakfast is an extra charge, but worth it if you like eggs. Check-out: Smooth and friendly; car was brought around with 2 chilled bottles of water for the ride home. We don't usually "stretch out" like this, but every once and a while it's necessary. If you're looking for a first-class experience, go to the Inn at Little Washington. We booked our weekend with Beth at McCabe World Travel and I know they had much to do with all of our extras, including an upgraded room. A Sunday night stay is more low-key than a Saturday.
