Entering our room it smelled so good! Very clean throughout. Lots of history on the walls. That staff was very friendly and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us. We happen to be the only guest that night so it had a romantic flare with us being the only two in this beautiful Lodge. If I had to give a critique it would be that it wasn’t the best nights rest I’ve had. Bed is very creaky and I’m a light sleeper. Overall great place and we WILL be back.
Enjoyed a cozy, snowy evening by the gas fireplace in the “Alaska” room. Peeked at some of the other themed rooms, but did not view the suites. Very clean. The themed rooms are small, so maybe not a great option for a lengthy stay, as there is no closet (we did have clothing hooks and 3 small drawers, so no problem when packing for one or two nights. Would like to have two chairs, but there simply is not room. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was made to order banana French toast and wonderful, crispy bacon, along with fruit and muffins. Staff was very polite, check in is super easy, and there is a nice parking lot. Reasonable rates for nice accommodations.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Lodge. My husband and I stayed in the Safari Room, it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Another couple came with us and stayed in the Alaska Room, it was also decorated wonderfully for Christmas. Wonderful gourmet breakfast the next morning.
The Lodge at Grant’s Trail was truly an awesome experience. A friend and I were looking for a cool place to stay for our trip to St. Louis. She just happened to find this awesome place while we were looking for hotels. The great thing was that it’s about the same price as the hotels and was a much cooler experience. We were very skeptical at first about staying in a B&B as neither of us had been to one. We were coming from 8hrs away and knew we would get there without any staff being there so that concerned us. We decided to call and get information before booking reservations. The man we spoke to on the phone was incredibly friendly and reassured us that everything would be fine and our keys would be securely waiting for us when we arrived. We loved the idea of the themed rooms and really wanted the Alaska room, but someone had booked it right in the middle of our 3 day stay for one night so we decided to do 2 nights in the Christmas room and 1 night in the Alaska room. Prior to arriving on the day of, we were contacted by the staff to go through all the check-in procedures, determine what time we wanted breakfast, and to verify we were happy with our rooms selections. We confirmed and they sent over an email with the code to the front door and how to pick up our keys. We were all set and super excited to arrive. We got there just before 8pm and our code got us in the door and then our keys were available for us. We went straight to our room and everything was exactly how we expected it. We had a note waiting for us on the bed describing some of the amenities such as drinks downstairs, ice in the kitchen, WiFi, etc. We were very pleasantly surprised by how cozy and awesome the Christmas room is. We were warned it might be too Christmasy, but we didn’t feel that way at all. It was very nice with TV, a nice bed, a Christmas town that lit up above the fireplace and an AC that worked very well. The bathroom was HUGE which was nice also. The next morning we woke up and went down to breakfast. Clark was who took care of us over the duration of our stay and he was AMAZING! He brought us an awesome warm breakfast of waffles, bacon, and sausage with fresh squeezed OJ. There was also toast, bagels, pastries, muffins, and cereal available each day. As well as coffee, water, and teas. The next morning we had a quiche that was absolutely incredible! Then, the final morning we had breakfast strata. We were pleasantly surprised with all of our breakfast items. Clark provides great service and truly makes sure you have everything you need. We only shared a table once at breakfast and it was with 2 very friendly people. The atmosphere here is truly wonderful. There’s a nice area downstairs with the kitchen to sit, there’s a game room area which we took advantage of, then there’s a big outdoor space with picnic tables and some trails with a green grassy area. We saw dear and a beaver once we made it to the Alaska room since it has a balcony. We enjoyed this room, but the Christmas room was still our favorite. Clark let us walk around and see all the other rooms that weren’t occupied while we were there and we believe that Christmas is the best. The bed in the Christmas room was a lot more comfortable than the Alaska room although the Alaska bed is bigger, it squeaks A LOT. The details in the Alaska room were very unique which made it cool, but it had some decorations we weren’t a fan of. The Christmas room felt like you were sleeping in a room in someone’s house with a big homey feel. The Alaska room made you feel like you were somewhere strange and a lot more noise was heard from this room than the other. The bathroom in the Alaska room was small, but it wasn’t a problem for us. One thing we noticed was how clean everything at the lodge was. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen showers and bathrooms as clean as they were, they were immaculate! Clark does a wonderful job and made our stay that much better! We loved talking to him and learning more about the history of the lodge. We were there during the week so luckily there weren’t any events going on, but we did see a few people coming in to plan their events and do walk throughs of the property. If you are looking for a unique place to stay less than 15mins from downtown this is it! We were able to go to the zoo, brewery, cardinals game, the arch, and all the famous food places with no trouble from here. I highly recommend giving them a try!
After a long, hot day at the Cardinals game (we were there during the extreme heat in early July), it was nice to arrive here to an air conditioned room. They had it turned up high, which is what we like, it was very lovely and cold!
We booked the safari room and it was beautiful decorated in theme, every little detail was thought of.
Their hours for check-in are very limited, however working with them to check-in later was easy and when we arrived everything was very simple and we had no issues with accessing the Lodge and getting the key to our room.
The entire place is very quaint, no detail over looked. It's just like being in a hunting lodge.
Breakfast is full, more than just your usual continental, and different every day.
Easy to get to, about 10-15 minutes from downtown, and literally just off the highway, although you'd never know it. You are back in the bushes, and we did see deer wandering around. It's quiet, we never heard the highway at all, and our room looked out of the highway.
No events when we were there, but we also stayed during the week. It was quiet, we never heard anyone else, and only saw others at breakfast.
We had a genuinely lovely experience and will recommend to anyone who is heading to Saint Louis. If we are ever back in Saint Louis we'd stay here again.
