We traveled to the upper to go gambling and needed a room at St Ignace. We stayed at the Bear Cove Inn and it was clean and beautiful. I would tell anyone to go see the unique interiors. The owners are great people too.
My friend and I were looking for a place to stay that wasn't too far from the ferry to Mackinac Island. I ran across this hotel with themed rooms and thought we'd give it a try. Check in was quick. The staff was very friendly and gave us directions to different sites in the area. Our room was the Big Bear Room. We parked directly in front of it. The interior was very unique. The first thing you see is a big bear mural on the wall. The room is decorated with trees and branches. Some have bears in them. The mirrors and TV were framed with branches. The headboards of the beds were fish.
The room was small but very clean. It had two very comfortable queen sized beds. There was a small refrigerator and coffee maker. The bathroom was small but clean. The lighting was a little dim. There is a store right next to the property where you can pick up snacks. The ferry is a short 5 minute drive.
We stayed two nights and were very happy with this Inn.
Stayed one night at the Bear Cove Inn and found it to be immaculate and the staff very friendly. We stayed in the King of the Forest room which was decorated with a woodsy theme which is refreshing after staying in chain hotels. I highly recommend booking here because it isn’t just another hotel!
Loved my king bear themed room, very comfortable. It didn't feel like a hotel room. Owner was great. Nice little patio by the office. Convenient store right next door. Restaurants 2 min drive from here. Bathroom could use a little bit more lighting as when you are in shower its pretty dark. Otherwise would definitely stay here again and recommend this place.
Pros: It was forest themed and kind of a quirky, something-different place to stay. Snacks were set out in case we were hungry. Check in & check out was quick and easy. Parking was excellent & right next to our room. It was close to the strip downtown, not quite within walking distance, maybe a 3 - 5 minute drive.
Cons: This was not a clean place. Walls around the bed had what looked like years of dirt & dust around them. I might not have noticed, but the lamp on the bed wasn't plugged in and I was looking for an outlet. The bathroom also had accumulated dust around the mirror and towel stand.
Overall, even though it was a quirky little room, it's still a motel and was overpriced for what it was.
