I liked the location of this resort. I got up every morning for a run watching the sunrise along the beach and felt safe doing so. The resort itself is quite small but the room was a nice size with tons of closet space. Both the room and resort is outdated and could use some sprucing up. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Plusses: It was quiet and fairly comfortable. Location is near a great walking State Park (across the street) and only a block or so from the beach. Also only a block to a water taxi stop. Negatives: quite dated, back porch was narrow and windows were too high to look out unless standing. Front curtains had to be kept closed due to common walkway outside front door/window... all these things made it dark inside. Small kitchen, no washer/dryer, not perfectly cleaned. Small, crowded pool area (although attractive). Needs updating, including ceiling tiles. It was OK for a short stay, might not choose it again. No toiletries in the room. No safe.
We booked a room at Coconut Bay through a time share service. For a studio room with a lovely view of the parking lot I gave up a two bedroom villa with a terrace in front of the pool with ocean view.
We arrived at Coconut Bay at 4:00pm which is the check in time. Immediately the person at the front told my husband he needs to meet with him for 20 minutes to talk about time shares. When my husband said he was not interested he was told the room was not ready and we would have to wait 30 minutes.
By the way, the room we were promised when we made the reservation was on the second floor and was changed when my husband refuse to listen to the selling talk.
When the 30 minutes were over and no one had come to the room to clean it, he went back to the front where there were 4 other rooms available that were not offered to us to begin with.
All this in the middle of a torrential rain. That was not the hotel's fault, but my husband by this time was soaking wet!
We go in the room and it is so outdated that it's not funny. We try to call the front desk because we forgot to get the wifi password and the phone is dead. We were promised that they would fix it on Monday and it is Friday and still no phone.
The refrigerador door only opens partially so don't try to store anything slightly wide. The refrigerador is so close to the wall that the baseboard does not let you fully open the door. The freezer does not have an ice maker and there is no icetray to make any. Could not find an ice machine in the hotel.
The bathtub and sink get clogged when you use them even when the drain plug is fully open. By the time you are done bathing you have water up to your ankles. The sink gets half full by the time you brush your teeth and wash your face.
Did I tell you the water comes out yellow?
And the noise! Did not have a single good night's sleep.
So happy I am going home tomorrow.
We enjoyed our stay! The location was good, walking distance to park, shops, grocery store, beach, pool and hot tub on site. Nice views of the canal with the boats out the window. The floors were a bit dirty, when we walked barefooted, our feet were black. The full kitchen was missing a large frying pan but we were able to cook a few meals. The Ac worked great. Beds were comfortable. Tv had plenty of channels to watch. The master bedroom bath had a clogged drain and the water was yellow. We had plenty of room as 4 adults and 2 small children under 2 years old. We would stay again if nothing else was available.
First, when we checked in, we found we were in a unit on the third floor in a wing without an elevator. Neither of us are young and spy, and I in particular have some back and leg issues, and we simply worried about going up three flights of stairs every time, let alone lugging bags up. When we called the front desk from the room, which was quite nice by the way, to see if we could be switched to a room on the first floor, to their credit while they said none of them were available they did say we could be moved to a third floor room (tho smaller) in the building WITH an elevator. While we accepted the room downgrade so we would have use of the elevator, it was done with an attitude that we were being a significant annoyance and irritant. Oh, and at no point did we receive any offer of help regarding getting our luggage up to the original room. That sort of set the stage, and throughout the stay the couple of additional times we had a request, like to have some washcloths for the shower and to have a package that was shipped to us at the property delivered into our room as we would not be back to the hotel before the front desk area closed (absurdly early most days), it was always met with the attitude that we we being an annoyance and irritant. The art of true customer service is truly foreign to the front desk staff. On the upside, the property is fine if not great, and the location near a great beach and some fun restaurants is very nice.
