The hotel is situated in a quiet area between the sea and the lagoon.
It has about 12 rooms, a dining area and a pool area. You have direct access to the sea. There are also some small shops where you can buy cookies or water. Otherwise there are several hotels nearby and a restaurant. The rooms are very spacious and clean.
There is a menu for lunch and dinner. Often dishes on the menu are not available and sometimes dishes are served although some ingredients are missing. The menu is not very extensive and also the food was often served cold. The portions are sometimes really small.
You need a lot of patience for the meals, because the preparation of the food often takes hours. What also would have been a good information for the beginning that the breakfast is served in courses. First a small fruit plate, egg dish, toast and finally a sweet dish. We partly sat for 2 hours during the breakfast. Which is definitely too long if one plans an excursion.
The next mystery was that we had to change our room after the first night. We had booked 2 nights in advance and had noticed during the trip that one night was missing. Fortunately there was a room available for the missing night. We were told that guests would arrive and that we would have to move to another room. So after the first night we packed our things and moved into another room. Today, the third day, our old room was still not occupied by other guests. It is empty.
All in all a nice well-kept complex but I would only recommend the hotel if you have a lot of patience. I would not come here with children
We stayed at Green Parrot for three days on the way from Mirissa to Yala National Park. The hotel is situated halfway between the two near the town of Tangalle. A short taxi or tuk tuk ride gets you to a beautiful lagoon where you can see birds and buffalo. Between the beach and this lagoon is a brand new hotel with a very nice pool and a restaurant with a first floor roof terrace overlooking many palm trees and the beach. The rooms are very spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Everybody who works here is very kind and hospitable. Supun and Viktoria quickly became our friends. The southeast facing beach is absolutely amazing and very quiet. The walk down the road east is very worth it as well. You'll probably see many grey langur monkeys there and you'll come by Shantha, who has a very nice establishment close to Green Parrot Hotel. All in all, everything about Green Parrot Hotel makes this a great place to relax and enjoy island life to the fullest.
We had a quiet relaxing down time after a busy trip around the usual Sri Lankan tourist spots. The hotel is located in a very quiet area with a uncrowded beach 50 metres away where fishermen landing their catch outnumber tourists. The lagoon across the road hosts lots of birdlife and on a short stroll from the hotel we saw macaques , langurs and a monitor lizard.
The hotel has a great pool and rooms are large, clean and adequately furnished.
The restaurant has a rather limited looking menu. However the food is always freshly prepared and tasty and if you want a change there are other places to eat in easy walking distance.
The best part about the Green Parrot is the staff who are unfailingly helpful and friendly.
We had a great stay and really enjoyed the loneliness at the beach. The pool area is also nice to relax for a while.
Definitely a good place to relax.
The Food is also quite good and you can get good coffee, too
Very clean hotel with pool and very friendly staff. The building and rooms are quite new and not used much.
There is a small way down to the beach.
The breakfast and food is good. They serve you also chemex coffee.
If you are up to eat outside just walk the street in front of the hotel to the right 5 min and there are two local restaurants. The second one is bit better but try them yourself.
The beach is awesome as there are nearly no people and we enjoyed the sunset with Mojito.
