This hotel deserves every one of the almost 2,000 five star ratings it has received. There is nothing about it that is less than perfect. And, on top of all that, the hotel offers a free massage to each room occupant - every day of their stay! The menu is very very extensive and the food well prepared and excellent in every way. Very varied menu, from wellness food to great Spaghetti Bolognaise. The breakfast buffet is huge and beyond diverse, catering to visitors from all over the globe. You can get a full British or five different types of kimchi and everything in between. Easy access to town, wonderful huge swimming pool and spa. Lovely relaxing area beside the pool. The rooms and bathrooms are roomy and both comfortable and attractive. Our grandchildren had a twin room with the bedroom in a loft, while we had a more conventional king room on one level. Worth crossing the world to stay there!
We had a very good stay the the Almanity Hoi An. The welcome by reception staff was excellent, and they were fantastic throughout our stay - so friendly and cheerful!
We had a comfortable bed in a large room over two floors, with a view of the pool. The room was very clean and housekeeping staff did an excellent job. Having the “upstairs” and “downstairs” spaces meant we could spread out! However, because the rooms and corridors are tiled, the room can be noisy (e.g. hearing people coming and going in other rooms). Also, the key card makes the door play a loud beeping sound which seems completely unnecessary!
The pool area is beautiful and we had no problem getting a couple of sun loungers to relax by the pool. The staff by the pool are not as friendly as reception staff, “efficient” is probably the best description. Quite a lot of people staying at the hotel used the pool area to pose for photos - we found this amusing but you might find this is a little uncouth or distracting!
The spa was excellent and we took advantage of the free massage on two of our four nights. The treatment varied so don’t think you will just get the same massage each day!
Breakfast was good, with a variety of options to suit (Asian, European, etc.). Perfect to fuel your short walk into Hoi An or maybe before one of the organised tours that the hotel can arrange for you. We booked a private guided tour of My Son which was really good.
Finally, we took advantage of the bar’s 2-for-1 happy hour: my tip here is to go for a wine or beer as there wasn’t much alcohol in the cocktails!
I had the best poolside briar pizza! I never expect a decent food at the pool bar of a resort. It was more than an Italian restaurant for sure. I did not see anyone eating the best prosciutto pizza there. If someone read this, try and don't hesitate.
Pros: The location was great and a 10 minute walk to Hoi An's Old Town, where you will find a huge selection of food choices, restaurants and street food. The breakfast buffet was good and there was a wide selection of food to choose from. The staff in the restaurant were polite and attentive. The gardens on the property were beautiful and well maintained.
Cons: I specifically booked a room with a private jacuzzi, as a treat on our second last day in Hoi An. When we were taken to our room, there was no jacuzzi. I queried this and the response was "we put you in this room because it is larger". So it was another room altogether! It is disappointing that we were not advised of this change at reception and just taken to the room. I am assuming they hoped we wouldn't notice? We were however given the offer to view the jacuzzi room, after I expressed my disappointment. Not good enough in my opinion, considering the star rating of this resort. Cleanliness at Almanity isn't that great. We found "foreign hair" in the shower and the tiles were slightly mouldy. The floors were quite dusty. The pool is not as big as the photos, yet picturesque. Afternoon tea, which was part of the package, was a cup of tea and a "not so fresh" cookie. Very underwhelming.
Just returned from Vietnam and spent 4 wonderful days staying at this hotel. Beautiful room on 2 floors - you go upstairs to bed, if you are in the first floor rooms. The restaurant serves a great menu and an incredible breakfast - huge variety of different food. I particularly enjoyed the Japanese style food. Beautiful outside pools. Very peaceful. The highlight is the Spa, where we had a massage included every day. Each day with a different masseur and different massage. Yoga every day for free 7-8.30am and Thai Chi 4-4.15pm each day.
