A modern efficient hotel in the center of town. Brand new with all the modern equipment and facilities you expect. This is an exception in Mongolia. The Chinese restaurant is excellent and the bar/Mongolian restaurant are a pleasant local touch. The menu is very local so be courageous. The service is very friendly and attentive. Splendid breakfast with a Chinese section.

The Shangri-La was a welcoming taste and change of scenery. From when you first enter, you know that this hotel is one of the worlds best. The staff were excellent on check in.
I was escorted to my room and my luggage brought up. First impressions of the room were fantastic, clean (thank you BoH), well lit, excellent decor and OMG, what a very very comfortable bed - Excellent Room! TV was a good size.
The service at the Naadam Bar and Restaurant was more than I expected, well spoken bar staff, well presented and customer service to the highest standard. All staff need to be commended for their conduct in the way they went about their business - very professional and attentive. The bar its self is very well laid out for different dining/drinking options. The food was the best food I have tasted since visiting Mongolia....I would say that the steak that I ate would have to be the some of the best steak I have eaten anywhere in the world and highly recommend it. The flavours and combinations of meals is/was well thought out and all packed a punch of awesome flavours - Thank you Chef!
I will be back, Thank you for a great stay

This was my first time at a Shangri-La hotel and I was very impressed. This hotel is beautiful and the service is excellent. There’s no doubt that this is a 5 star hotel. It’s also in a great location - within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and tourist sights.
We had a double club king room that was spacious and modern with a great view. The tv had 6-7 English channels which was a pleasant surprise.
Service was excellent throughout the hotel. Everyone seemed to speak English fluently. The front desk people, in particular, speak excellent English.
We had access to the Horizon Club which was outstanding. They have a “happy hour” from 5-7:00 with free alcohol and food. We had a light dinner there two nights. The food and drinks were very good. The young women working there did a great job.
We had breakfast at their buffet restaurant. Food was great but you should arrive after 7:00. We arrived one day @ 6:30 and a lot of stuff wasn’t out yet.
All things considered this is an excellent hotel. I look forward to staying in more Shangri-La hotels in the future.

We arrived already at around 7 am in the hotel. The entrance hall is huge and pleasant. The greeting at the hotel reception was : Hello, if you want to get into your room now you have to pay half of the room price. Bang ! No, thanks, for 5 hours I do not pay half of the room fee (check-in time on my reservation was 12 pm).We stored our luggage and went to do some sightseeing with our guide.
Our room was dated but nice enough with a good view and very quiet. Unfortunately I did not sleep well, because you could not open a window and the air in the room was so stuffy (even with the aircon running for hours). It felt like suffocating in an old carpet.
The breakfast choices were amazing. The hotel catered for all tastes (European, Asian, Mongolian,..). BUT to get a coffee or cappuccino you literally had to CHASE staff (even though there weren’t many people in the huge breakfast restaurant).
The location is very good, next to a good shopping mall and a short walk from the city center with the parliament, state opera, etc.
Because I slept so badly and the „welcome“ was so brusquely I booked another hotel for our last night in UB after traveling thru Mongolia.
