This hotel was in a great location in the heart of Phnom Penh, just metres from the waterfront. The hotel had an amazing rooftop bar and restaurant as well as two plunge pools on the roof top where you can relax and look out at a view of the Mekong River meeting the Tonle Sap River. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Also an amazing swimming pool on the ground floor. Our room was nice and clean with a balcony. Slightly outdated furnishings but that added to the charm.

Some of the basic fixtures especially in the bathroom eg shower curtain needed changing. There is a market in the street which after it closes leaves a huge amount of rubbish making it unpractical to walk through at night.

Hotel in need of up updating, staff not particularly friendly and it seemed like they wanted to make a few extra $ by missing items from mini bar, charge for ‘dirty’ towels, lost key cards.
The hotel was in a great location, near to the river promenade and Palace/Museum., however it was very noisy in the street till the early hours of the morning.
Breakfast acceptable.

Room Tip: Take ear plugs. Check your mini bar, and take pictures of what’s missing and inform reception...

We had a very scary/unsafe experience while staying here. My husband and I, as well as my sister received a call to our respective room in the middle of the night saying we needed to “pay our bar tab”. We all realized this was a scam and none of us gave any information out except a few minutes of back and forth. Then the next night someone SHOWED UP TO MY SISTERS ROOM AT 1am!! Luckily she didn’t open the door (just saw them through the peephole) but who knows what could have happened if she did.

It was the man on the phone and a pimp alongside him. When she reported it to the front desk they said it was “probably the teenagers staying in the hotel pulling a silly prank”. Clearly someone had gotten into the hotel and was watching us throughout our stay and knew she was a target as she was staying by herself.

The hotel needs to take this more seriously as this was a very dangerous situation to be put in and there was absolutely no follow up! Do not stay here, it is not safe, especially if you are a woman who is staying in a room alone!!

A strange hotel. You enter a large reception area furnished with fabric covered seats around the back wall, a plastic table and two plastic chairs and a traditional Cambodian wooden cart. The reception staff didn't seem too enthusiastic during our whole stay and that really set the tone for this hotel. Our room on the first floor was one that hadn't yet been refurbished, the furniture was chipped & the bathroom was a bit scruffy. Little details like the loo roll holder not being used (just left on the side when we arrived) further undermined our experience. The central pool is Ok but it gets a bit 'whiffy'. All in all, staying at this hotel was not a pleasant experience

This hotel was chosen for its central location. Overall it’s not a bad choice but you need the right room if you prefer peace and quiet. As with most Asian countries it seems that anything goes. So a hotel can plonked next to a market, nightclub, bars - whatever. So you pays your money etc.
The decor is tired and in need of complete renovation. But our room was reasonably cool and comfortable.
The views from the top deck where there is a bar and meals are served is the best place for river views and the staff are extremely pleasant.
Our stay was marred by a Chinese delegation (presumably a government sponsored rentacrowd waving flags and sporting red T shirts) who barged, shouted, coughed, hawked and spat their way around the public areas as if they had sole ownership. Their appalling behaviour and lack of social graces annoyed the other guests and staff equally - so check before booking!!

Dear postscript65, many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated. We are pleased to hear that in general your found the hotel's facilities to be satisfactory and the restaurant staff to be 'extremely pleasant'. As you mention, your stay coincided with a large Chinese delegation that was staying at the hotel, and we admit that the behaviour of some members of this delegation was below that of what would normally be acceptable and we raised these concerns with the delegation leader on a number of occasions. We discussed this situation with you during your stay and offered a goodwill gesture as an apology for the disturbance caused. Trusting the remainder of your holiday runs smoothly and wishing you all the best for your onward travels.
