This hotel is very close to the riverside and is superbly located with regards to restaurants, bars and cafés. The hotel itself has a modern facade: the rooms are well appointed, the beds are on the firm side. The reception staff were friendly and were always helpful and courteous. There is a Canadian bank ATM in the foyer and the staff were always obliging in changing high-denomination notes into smaller denominations. The restaurant staff were disinterested when we visited, but with so many good restaurants in the vicinity, there is really no reason to eat in the hotel. The 6th floor restaurant was used for breakfast which was an awkward affair with huge circular tables dominating, making it impossible to enjoy the more personal experience that smaller tables enable. The breakfast food was also spread out a lot, with no signage indicating what was in each food container. Overall, a convenient place to stay, clean and comfortable - albeit a little quirky at times. OK this review will be in two sections sort of. First the good then the bad. We have been staying at the Ohana (Castle) Hotel for at least eight years now when we visit PP. Fantastic location on Riverside and very friendly helpful staff. Always liked it there and still do. The breakfast is above average for a hotel of this price range and the restaurant/bar area on the seventh floor is pleasant with very good views of PP and the Tonle Sap and Mekong junction.
Sadly this place has gone so far downhill now on our last visit we were forced to move. The reasons for this were the exceptionally poor internet in the rooms (although I will qualify this as good internet is very hard to find in hotels in PP of this price range). This time it was so poor as to be virtually non existent. The quality of the cleanliness of Ohana has also deteriorated over the last few years. When we went to have showers there was no hot water, finally after leaving the hot running for a long time it got almost tepid. We are very disappointed that the owners have let this situation get to this. I hope they can pull it back up again as we liked staying there and the hotel deserves better.

Room Tip: third fourth and fifth floors at the back are in our opinion the best.

I first stayed at the Ohana in January 2015, and eagerly returned 12 months later. Built in 2007 (but operated the first five years by a foreigner), the wonderful Khmer owner Mr. Yim Sivana took over operation in 2012. He has made significant improvements. Most notable are the splendid new penthouse rooms where the breakfast buffet used to welcome sunrise over the Mekong every morning. I was lucky enough to be the very first 6th floor occupant January 9th, in the northeast corner room #606 with views in two directions.
I was upgraded from my favorite 5th floor balcony room due to a little water leak from the room next door while the bathtub was being replaced. The very smart receptionist Ms Phany had tipped off me that the new rooms would be ready soon, so the leak was my lucky chance just as the first of the new rooms were finished. No hotel can be perfect all the time, especially while upgrading, but I really value how a hotel responds to guests' problems. They get an A+ from me!
The Ohana's lively Riverside location is perfect: midway between the Royal Palace and the outstanding National Museum to the south, and the Night Market/nightlife to the north. (Guest-friendly ;-) The Ohana is 50 meters in from the Riverside on Street 148, where fishermen carry their fresh catch to the Kandal Market next door. Riverfront Park is a 1 mile/1.5 km scenic, vibrant and delightful public space along the Tonle Sap River from the Palace to Street 108's Night Market.
But the Ohana's big draw is the very nice swimming pool, especially with several poolside Mai Tais and a chicken/bacon Caesar salad. The pool has a bench with several nice jacuzzi jets for recovery and cooling off after sightseeing. Ahhhh!!! The breakfast buffet in the restaurant near the pool is good, especially the tropical fruits. The only shortcoming is the wifi: it averaged an acceptable 2-3 Mbps on several download speed tests, but the ISP is not reliable, so I often had to switch to 4G.
The pool, the people, the place are all among my favorites in Cambodia. Not surprisingly the Ohana often fills up with small tour groups -- but it heavily discounts when not full. On websites like hotels.com the same double balcony room will cost $175 USD some days, but I paid $66/night online by talking with Ms Phany about which days it was not full. (I usually stay in Phnom Penh for several weeks each January, bouncing between nearby hotels like Le Grande Makong around the corner and the Harmony across Street 148, owned by Mr. Sivana's brother). If you can book it on off-peak nights, the Ohana is a great value -- especially the new penthouse floor rooms!

I stayed for seven nights in a double deluxe balcony room recently. This is a small 3.5 star hotel and first impressions are that it is old. I was initially disappointed to be allocated a room on the second floor facing the street. I thought it would be too noisy. My disquiet was quickly dispelled. The room is spacious, with a large queen bed, shower in bathtub, very efficient air conditioning and plentiful supply of hot water for showers. At night, the street is relatively quiet and I had some of the best sleeps in a long time. The highlight for me is the rooftop restaurant, bar and jacuzzi. I spent long lazy lunches/breakfasts on the rooftop enjoying the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and views of the city, the confluence of the two rivers Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers and Wat Onalum. The staff at the hotel particularly in the restaurant was friendly, polite and so very helpful. Housekeeping was efficient and my room was tidied quickly and 2 bottles of water, complimentary tea and coffee were replenished each morning. There was plenty of wardrobe space to hang my clothes and a safe to store passports and other valuables. Two minor quibble - it'd be good if the balcony could be swept and wiped down and the chairs replaced with something more comfortable. Otherwise, no complaints. I loved staying at the Ohana and felt that it's location close to the riverfront and cafes and restaurants was just perfect.

We visited Cambodia for the first time and stay at the Castle for six days. The hotel was not big but nice location, near market and restaurant, clean with spacious room. The staff of the hotel were very friendly as I saw, they always smiled to me and quickly responded what I needed. Staying at the hotel feel like family. So I definitely stay at the hotel next time I visit Cambodia.
