The Ohana Hotel in Phnom Penh was recommended to me when I mentioned I wanted to have a pool to be able to swim.
The pool is great and the room was fine for U$55' having most amenities you would expect for a mid range hotel: a safe, Tv and channel entertainment system, mini bar,a good air con and a wifi in the room.
Generally speaking the place looks a bit tired, stretched carpets, old marked wooden doors. It took 10 mins to get some hot water up to the fifth flor and the bathroom needs some refurbishing.
The staff was very helpful and the hotel still remains a valuable option if you are keen to swim.
The breakfast on the sixth floor was great having a magnificent view over the Mekong River and the Temples on one side.

First the good points, staff were great, the room was very clean, large and comfortable, AC, hot water and internet were all great. Rooftop balcony was delightful especially breakfast at dawn overlooking the river and palace rooftops.
The location was interesting, half a block in from the river, very convenient to the Royal Palace and museum. Now the sketchy part, across the road are some roughy looking bars and an interesting and colorful food market next door. The bars allow you to enjoy their music from the comfort of your bed. They do wrap up by midnight most nights. I thought it good value, but if your budget allows upgrade to a slightly more salubrious area for about 20 USD. I thought breakfast was more than adequate with made to order eggs, and fabulous fresh local fruit. The courtyard pool looked lovely. The room was super clean - remember to tip your chambermaid. I did.

Had low level expectations yet left disappointed. I can see how some have enjoyed this place but I am not satisfied with my stay and will not recommend.
Would describe as a higher end budget place at best.
The booking process was cumbersome with direct communications showing quite a higher rate but some booking sites providing better deals but misrepresenting room quality. All over the place.
Some larger groups appear to use this hotel as the guests congregate in numbers and are known to each other. Would guess this place has upside of 80 rooms.
The location presents “mixed” feelings. Close to many bars, restaurants and a nice riverside walk. Far enough away to provide respite but any issues that sit with this benefit.
Very very close to and old style wet market with early morning noise and some foul aromas. The thin curtains, old style glass windows and balcony doors offer little protection. Endless street noise from motor bikes and just day to day shouting by locals. Subsides somewhat at night but resumes very early in the morning. Some rooms are actually adjoining the markets. Further there roosters crows and also “call to prayer” bells by nearby Monks. Rock hard bed. Had far from a good nights sleep.
My room was small and sparsely furnished which requires “living out of your suitcase” which is annoying beyond a quick overnight stay.
Staff are friendly and pleasant but once you have an issue it’s like everyone dives for cover and this was disappointing. Almost like your speaking to a different person, gone are the language skills displayed earlier and those pleasant smiles.
Good luck with the wi fi.
Did t use the pool facilities due to weather and my schedule nor rooftop bar as many other similar options nearby.
Overall present well from initial look but is a dated/tired establishment that is poorly maintained. Pity, could otherwise be really nice.

Nice balcony with a (kinda) river view. Great views from the roof where there are 2 punge pools. Main pool is on the ground floor with sun until 3pm ish. Friendly staff and a decent breakfast until 10.00am.

So, first good points : swimming pool, location (City Centre), breakfast (quantity and quality).

Pain points:
Courtesy of the staff: reception and restaurant. Not smily and rude.
Reservation : on all websites, you have a twin room for two people. Here it is for one (overage for a 2nd person) BUT you have 2 towels, 2 beds, 2 shoes, 2 cups...

We didn't want to stay for dinner as it is expensive compared to other hotels where we stayed.

Our best choice in PP would be definitely Orussey Hôtel.

Dear Zozotte19, many thanks for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay with us at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the pools, location, and buffet breakfast. However, concerning your 'Pain points', I am certainly disappointed to hear that you found the reception and restaurant staff to be rude, having polite and friendly staff is very important to me, and generally we receive praise regarding the attitude of our staff, so I will certainly look into this. As for the twin room issue, I have looked into this and it appears to have been caused due to you incorrectly filling in the booking details on Agoda's website. Whilst twin rooms generally accommodate 2 people (and by default our twin rooms are set up for 2 people), to enhance room option flexibility, single occupancy is also an option, as is triple occupancy with the addition of an extra bed. When making your booking via Agoda it appears that you selected single occupancy and thus were charged the single occupancy rate. When you and your travel partners were checking-in the Front Desk staff explained this booking discrepancy and requested an additional payment for double occupancy. You refused to accept this explanation from the Front Desk staff demanding that you should be given a twin room with double occupancy as that was what you had booked and paid for. In an attempt to defuse the situation the Front Desk staff courteously showed you the booking confirmation the Hotel received from Agoda which clearly stated single occupancy had been booked, at this point you became rather vocal and insisted that this was not possible. The Front Desk staff politely suggested that if you believed you had not selected single occupancy at the time of booking then you should contact Agoda to resolve the issue as the only information the Hotel has regarding the booking is that provided by Agoda. Thus either you inadvertently made a mistake when making the booking, or Agoda had made a mistake in the booking confirmation it sent the hotel. Again, you rather vocally refused to accept this suggestion continuing to blame the Front Desk staff for an issue that was neither their nor the Hotel's fault. However, after the issue being resolved I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and we wish you all the best for your onward travels.
