The Kikonko Lodge is the perfect stopover between Queen Elisabeth NP and Murchison Falls NP. The lodge is very tastefully decorated, has a bright and open concept, and it is the ideal place to relax and unwind. It offers stunning views of Lake Albert (especially at night when the lights of the fisherboats shine on the lake) and has a nice and clean pool area with gorgeous views. The room was spacious, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. A nice detail: The owners follow a sustainable approach and there was an ecological soap bar in the bathroom to use. The food was delicious and more varied (we could order an italian Lasagna) than in many other lodges we stayed at. The staff was fantastic and very welcoming. We enjoyed our stay at Kikonko Lodge very much and would definitely come again.

Best staff, best quite atmosphere around the nature. I want to come back one day. The pool felt great too. The view and the Congo lights were like a dream. I slept very well and the hot shower was like the one at home!

A Valentine's Day at Kikonko Lodge

Kikonko Lodge sweeps partners off their feet
I owed surprise to my partner
For she’s so specially
High on the Albertine Rift
Overlooking Lake Albert
Nesting atop the escarpment
Management have fully covered courting couples

The Congo’s blue mountain tower in the distance
The pool was the added coolant
To the open-design climate friendly Lodge
The water’s silky softness and freshness
Is gentle and soothing to the skin
Get high, high up the escarpment
In the high-end accommodation

With just six cottages the higher the value
The sumptuous deco awaits you
Get spoilt in the Queen size bed
All for your enjoyment without a dime lost
A break on the balcony is a romantic chronicle
The night view scope is breathtaking
Fishermen lights appear spectacular
The lights dance as flora sways the flora
In the coolness of the breeze
Enjoy the natural tattoo at Kikonko Lodge

The three Lodge directors were the gem
Behind the dream project
Stefanie leads in hospitality marketing and deco
Stefan is the naturalist with unfailing love
For climate hardy aloe vera and cactus plants
Robert is the life and soul of the community and joint projects
So at Kikonko Lodge I must return
For my weekend escapes, and
As a fun lover I know what fun does to me and my partner

We loved our stay at the new Kikonko Lodge. We came from Kampala for a weekend away, looking to combine some relaxation with unique activities, and we got exactly what we came for.

The location is excellent, perched on the Albertine Rift, with views of Lake Albert below. The guest cottages dotted around the property have private verandas where you can wind down and take in the lake views.
There are also plenty of activities to do around the lodge, making it worth staying a few extra days to explore the area. The staff were very helpful and recommended several activities that they arranged for us. We can highly recommend the forest walk in Bugoma Forest Reserve. We saw lots of birds, butterflies and learned much about the different species of trees. A chimpanzee habituation program is underway here and while you cannot do chimpanzee tracking right now, you may be lucky to spot one during your walk!

The staff is very welcoming and attentive, the food delicious, and great attention to detail and effort has been put into the interior decoration, which is tastefully presented and uses local materials in very creative ways. Responsible travelers will appreciate the lodge's dedication to sustainable practices. The lodge is fully driven by solar power, there is no plastic on site and safely filtered water is available free of charge.

Our favorite place in the lodge was the pool and bar area, which offers gorgeous views of Lake Albert and, on a clear day, you can even see the Blue Mountains of the DRC. In the evening we had drinks by the pool while watching hundreds of twinkling lights below coming from fishing boats going out for the night catch.

Thank you for a memorable stay, we can't wait to be back!

This property is an absolute hideout. Its located on top of the escarpment with a perfect view of Lake Albert. All the cottages have private balconies with views stretching towards the lake. The property is well modeled with art pieces found in every corner. Staffs at this lodge are so lovely; they are ever smiling, warm and always available to help. The rooms are so spacious and the restaurant is a piece of work. The swimming pool is just adjacent to the fully stocked bar making your chill fabulous. To sum it all, the location of the property is just on point; surrounded by very many attractions from Lake Albert, Kabwoya game reserve, Bugoma forest, a waterfall etc ridding you off boredom. Highly recommended property.
