We decided to stay at the Townhouse for our anniversary after recommendations from friends.
Positives to start with. The complimentary Port in the room was a lovely touch and, having been offered an upgrade to the room by email, I was really impressed with the bathroom and the massive roll top bath. The bed was really comfortable and the room spacious and well designed.
Breakfast was delicious, absolutely the best scrambled egg I have ever tasted, and my husband really enjoyed his full English.
Less positive; although there was a fan in the room it was very under powered and didn't do much to alleviate the heat. At breakfast on the 2nd day there was no one in attendance in the dining area to take our
order or replenish the coffee and several of the tables had not been reset after previous breakfasters. (A total opposite to the previous morning when a lovely friendly lady was in charge!) A fellow visitor ended up asking the chef for cold milk as there was no one else available. Also the aforementioned upgrade was to include a bottle of prosecco, which sadly never materialised.
However we will definitely visit again as the positives far out weigh the negatives, and feel confident to recommend the Townhouse to friends and family.
Lovely hotel BUT a major error over our 2 night booking. We were told at breakfast on Day 1 that we had booked room only. I questioned this, but was told we would have to pay for breakfast. So, we chose the minimum available. Continental breakfast was very, very limited, as others have said. When we were paying our bill on leaving, I checked the booking confirmation email that had been sent when I first made the booking, by phone directly with the hotel, and yes, as I had told the staff at breakfast on Day 1, we HAD booked b&b.
" Room Description:Standard Double Room
Tariff Description:Stay & Save BB. Tariff Total: £195.50"
So, for two days we had booked full breakfast included but not received it. And no, we were not offered a reduction in payment. Perhaps the management would like to rectify this in compensation. And incidentally, on the confirmatory email, 2.00pm is quoted as the check in time. Such a pity. We had been looking forward to our stay in this beautiful hotel.
This was a return visit to The Townhouse following several previous visits. We can usually be sure of good service from all members of staff. Our room was comfortable and reasonably well appointed with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the theatres, several other good restaurants and the river Avon which is what makes it ideal for people who enjoy such things. We had to park the car in an NCP which is a little distant to the hotel for my liking but the charge was reduced because we were staying at the Townhouse.
Brilliant stay here. Friendly staff, excellent room with everything you could need.
Location 5 minutes walk to theatre.
Would highly recommend to others visiting Stratford
Room was first floor overlooking front of the hotel and road but after 11 there was no noise even with the windows open.
Fantastic stay at this lovely hotel . The room was lovely and so were the staff. They could not of been any more helpful. Will definitely return . The location was brilliant ! It was right in the heart of Stratford . Highly recommend
