My 4 day stay Liamo Reef Resort was very pleasant. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the transport to and from the airport especially and 5am was very convenient. I really enjoyed the meals and the view from the restaurant was outstanding. Unfortunately the pool was being renovated and was not available.

The standard rooms were fine - even without any views. The dining room, cafe and bar setting were lovely - and the staff were happy for me to sit and work there all day. The beach was a bit mucky and had some rubbish on it so I didn't go for a swim. The food was good and the staff extremely helpful. Connecting to the internet took a bit more effort than just logging onto the wireless system but the management were very helpful in getting issues sorted out. I felt very comfortable there.

Stayed here with my family and the place was nice. We chose the bungalows which had private veranda. Room was very spacious. Beds were not the most comfortable but not too bad. Bathroom was newly done, very neat and clean. The resort itself is a beautiful spot within town. Lots of walking/play space for kids. Access to the beach. Restaurant was a huge alfresco dining overlooking the waters.

What a great find!
Please don't get discouraged with the slow booking confirmation.
We chose the Liamo resort over Walindi Bay prior to our dive trip on the Star Dancer in PNG and boy were we glad we did.
The food was excellent, the bar was great and the people were very nice and tried to help in any way possible.
We stayed in a beach bungalow, but really any room would have been fine.
The resort has air conditioning a huge must for PNG, it is hot and humid. They dont turn off the power at night, like Walindi does. They have 2 swimming pools that are clean and private.
It is a very large place with beautiful grounds. Dont get me wrong, we have travelled the world diving and PNG is rugged, but really, this is the best place to stay when leaving From Hoskins. We felt safe as long as we stayed inside the grounds of the resort. If you want to venture out, take a guide from the hotel with you. Kimbe has a lot of crime, but if your with a local, you will generally be safe.
We took a guide to the local market and received better prices, in fact have your guide buy your items, you'll get a better price.
If your going on a liveaboard dive charter, take staples for trading, rice, soap, old scuba gear, masks and snorkles. We wished we would have had the items for trading. Don't expect to buy any dive gear in PNG.
The worse part of the resort is the unreliable transportation from the airport. This is a theme in PNG, Island time means sometimes you just wont have a ride. Our airport bus never came to pick us up, but they now have a public van that will take you to where you are staying from the airport. But in all fairness, we arrived a day late as our flight was cancelled from Port Moresby to Hoskins, (a common occurrance, so plan accordingly) and when I called the hotel to let them know, I did not stress to have a van their to pick us up the next day. We were a little freaked about having to stay in Port Moresby.
If you do get stuck in Port Moresby, stay at the AIRWAYS hotel, absolutely the best.
Hoskins airport, if you want to call it that, well try not to spend time there, and dont use the bathrooms.
If we go back, we will stay here again. Oh, the owner of this hotel, resort, also has an off shore fishing lodge, which is suppose to be great!
