This hotel has the best view of any on the island! We walked out of our room and was right on the beach. The staff was very attentive and super friendly. The service was superior. It's a cool place to chill and have fun. The pool and hot tub at night was the place to be.. The place is trendy with a vibe of sexiness. The VIBE is what makes this hotel a five...
Avoid this hotel. The quality, Detail to attention and value to guests has seriously declined. There was dirt and sand in the bathroom corners. Honeymoon suite is absence of any romance. The minibar was empty. The grout in bathroom is in need of upkeep. The bedroom window needs some maintenance. For $500.00 per Night; the SPA was only offer facials. I’ve stayed in before and the attention to detail for a boutique hotel left us feeling robbed...on an Weeding Anniversary getaway.
A lot of details. Nice, warm, welcoming - high class, tastefully done. Vince was awesome.Beach is kinda rocky, and the kitchen fare was actually terrible. Room/bed was small - but we were made aware at the time of booking. No bellhop/elevator so you may have to haul your bags up a flight of stairs. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
I usually only write reviews when I'm absolutely thrilled with a place. Let me start by saying that the room was nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. Besides that, not a place I'd ever recommend.
Pretty disappointed after spending over $450 per night. We expected great service now that people are finally starting to travel again but this doesn't seem to be a priority at The Fred. We had better service when we went to dinner at the Sand Castle Hotel.
1. The pool is absolutely disgusting (a deep shade of green algae on the entire pool). We were there two days before anyone came to clean it (and not very well) and then it was full of algae again within a day. Not once was it inviting.
2. They make a big deal about wearing your wristband but on more that one occasion there were more non-guests. There is a group of men who are apparently long time guests who are working for AT&T (or something like that we were told) and they sat at the bar for hours along with what seemed like "working girls" (the groping going on was very strange) while and after one of the men ran down to the beach to throw up. Mind you, this was in the middle of the day and was pretty much the same every day.
3. If you like to get up early (and by early I mean before 8am) forget about being able to get coffee (or anything else). The lobby puts out a Keurig only on weekends which is really strange, then they finally put coffee out by the pool area after that. Why not put a coffee maker in the rooms or at least make one available to guests who request it?
For the price of the room, I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Nestled in downtown Frederiksted, The Fred is truly an upscale property. It is so nice, well appointed and cleverly designed it is almost out of place. The food was well above average and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The pool and hot tub, both infinity, are works of art. The music was a little obnoxious from within the room but, get this, The Fred's 'quiet time' starts at 10pm. The music stops and almost all guests respect each other's right to peace and quiet. Our first night I thought we had made a big mistake and would have trouble sleeping but, by 10:30, you could hear a pin drop. VERY happy with The Fred and will stay there again.
