- If you want to eat well, visit 5th Avenue, where you'll find several Mexican, Italian, and Mediterranean restaurants and night clubs.
- A tip (commonly around 10%) is usually added at the end of your bill, and labeled 'Propina.'
- Traveling by bus in Playa del Carmen is easy and much cheaper than hiring your own private transportation.
- Every day several boats leaves Playa del Carmen to go to Cozumel Island, which has one of the best coral reefs in the area.
- As you'll find at many beaches around the world, people in Playa del Carmen are nice and friendly. You won't have any problems just being yourself!

One of the best beaches in Playa del Carmen is Mamita's, where you'll find white fluffy sand and a sparkling blue sea. Mamita's Beach club is a magical place to hang out — with electronic music, a friendly crowd, and a great restaurant with Mexican and International menus; you could easily spend a whole day here.
Tips- Ask for the mango margarita — it's delicious.
- Arrive early in the morning to get a good spot in the beach club.

5th Avenue is the icon of Playa del Carmen. Take a stroll and find Mexican and International restaurants, local bars, souvenirs shops, and plenty of artists and friendly people just one block away from the beach.
Tips- If you want to save money, eat at the local pizzerias, which are very good and cheap.
- Almost every restaurant or bar provides free WiFi.

Discover delicious local flavors at El Fogon Mexican restaurant. Try the 'Tacos al pastor' (spicy pork tacos), which are fantastic, along with many other local tasty combinations.
Tips- Almost all the dishes aren't that spicy so don't worry about trying something different — and you can always add extra salsas if you like a bit of heat!
- Prices are good value.

While staying in Playa del Carmen, you must visit Cozumel Island — it's just 40 minutes away by ferry and is a beautiful experience. Cozumel has one of the biggest coral reefs in the world, and I highly recommend scuba diving or snorkeling here.
Tips- The ferry runs from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel every hour.
