JazzyButtons's City Tips

  • The Musee Rodin and musée de l'Orangerie are relative smaller museums so can be both done in one day.
  • The Paris subway is very easy to use, it's numbered, color coded and named. Although, I was surprised by the uncleanliness of the seating, floors, windows and overall appearance.
  • On a limited time with three days, I strongly recommend the "Paris Pass". Leave early to get to your museum as line-ups are long during peak periods. At the Orsay Museum enjoy the Cafe Campana and try their over sized chocolate eclair. At the Louvre lobby obtain a map of the museum and most of the popular works of art like the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci is located in the Denon building.

The Louvre is a world class art museum. It hosts the Great Masters of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens and much more. The Roman and Greece statues are wonderful to view and carved out of marble.

    Tips
    • Go early to avoid line-ups.
    • The Paris Pass is strongly recommended. This not only includes your admission, but also gives you Fast Pass access. I believe the first Sun of each month is "free day", however, we chose to go and didn't activate our Paris Pass at that time, but we were still allowed to use the Fast Pass entrance (just had to show the pass, but not activate it)
    • Wear comfortable footwear as a lot of walking and standing is required.
    • The entrance to the Fast Pass in the corridor beside the Cafe Marly.

    Tips
    • Use the farther entrance as lineups are shorter instead of the entrances to the tower by the street.
    • Purchase 3rd level tickets on the ground if you are able to (sometimes they're not for sale due to weather conditions). This can change quickly, so if you missed out, pre-assent to 2nd level, you can still buy your 3rd level tickets up there.
    • Champagne is available for purchase on the 3rd level (expensive, but a nice treat). Gift shops and fast food type of fare available on 2nd level. Restaurants on 1st level (reservations would be recommended)
    • Be very aware of your surroundings at all times. The Eiffel Tower and grounds are home to pick picketers and scammers. Always keeps your purses and wallets in front of you, and keep an eye people around you. The staff warn you of this during the elevator ride.
    • Be sure to stop by at night time. Eiffel Tower twinkles/glitters every hour on the hour. Definitely a must see at night. If you can, ascend during the night time as well, very beautiful to see Paris lit up (when we did this, we could only go as high as Level #2)
