  • 1. Chateau d'En Haut in Jenlain (near Vallenciennes/France)
    Chateau d'En Haut, Jenlain, Nord

We stayed here one night during a 24 h weekend break....
This a truly a wonderfull adress... if you like antique furniture, a romantic setting, big rooms and a very good breakfast for a very moderate price don't hesitade... ! You will give your beloved everthing she/he's ever dreamed of sleeping in a chateau... When we're were acommodated in the chambre vert (green room) and almost sleeping I had the feeling I could expect every moment a tour group visiting the room as part of a guided castle visit ... A hidden gem in the north of France THIS IS FANTASTIC !

  • 2. Restaurant Dimitri, Quaregnon, Belgium

Half an hour from Chateau d'en Haut, in the village of Quaregnon near Mons (Belgium) we had an excellent 7 courses dinner for about 60 Euro's per person.... this is one of the best restaurants I ever visited and recently awarded with a * in the renowed Michelin guide.... The outside facade is nothing special, the inside is fantastic with a wonderful cuisine... keep the romance going...

  • 3. Roubaix Museum of Art & Industry
    Musee La Piscine, Roubaix, Nord

From a 18 th century castle towards Roubaix for a visit at a former covered swimming pool which kept its art deco style and hosts a beatiful art museum... come and see it, you won't be disappointed

  • 4. Lille
    Lille, Nord

An afternoon in the 4th largest city of France... that can't be bad... my wife enjoyed the many shopping facilities and we both liked the Art Museum (the second largest after the Louvre in Paris). The city was some years ago (one of the) cultural capitals of Europe. Perfect for an afternoon city hopping and very good connections by rail and by road
