  • 1. Chateau Sonesta Hotel
Hyatt Centric French Quarter New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana

Very elegant hotel, right at the corner of Bourbon and Canal, so the location is hard to beat. Prices are usually reasonable, as we stayed for $89/night in June in a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Our friends had a room with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street for $169. Would not advise one of these rooms unless you are a hard partier, as the noise on Bourbon Street goes on until early in the morning.

  • 2. Brennan's Restaurant
    Brennan's Restaurant, New Orleans, Louisiana

    Still good, but pricey

  • 3. Fleur de Lis Cafe

Informal Breakfast and Lunch Cafe on Royal Street. Might be the best breakfast I have ever had. The omelette with crawfish and a gumbo-type sauce was fabulous, as were the loaded hash browns.

  • 4. Nola Restaurant
    Nola Restaurant, New Orleans, Louisiana

Upscale Restaurant owned by Emeril. Everything was top shelf, service, appetizers, main course, dessert. Can't get much better than this.
