Where to go in Piscataway New Jersey

Jun 22, 2006  Sports Illustrated ranked Piscataway #1 Sports Town in New Jersey with 26 newly renovated parks each has brand new playground, basketball fields, tennis courts, hockey ring, baseball field ...etc. and two more cricket fields are going to be built and a brandnew YMCA facility. It is located about 35 miles from New York City, a very good stop before or after visiting New York City. It is especially interesting places for small kids where there are many play places for them.

Piscataway New Jersey is a very old town since 1665, and there are lots of places to go and visit.

  • 1. Ranked 23rd of Top 100 Best Town to Live in America by CNN Money Magazine

    Piscataway is just ranked 23 of Top 100 Best Place to Live in American by CNN Money Magazine in 2008. And the photo used by Money Magazine is the newly built Clock Tower at Westerguard Public Library where your kids can hang out to take a rest and read some books. Or pick up the delicious pizza across at Frantalli Pizza and eat at the new Clock Tower Park. One block away is the Casino bus to Atlantic City.

  • 2. Middlesex Mall and Hardley Shopping Center

    It is located at Fwy 287 x6 on Rt 529 not far from Edison Train Station. It has brand new Harmon, Famous Footwear, Marshall, Target, Sears, Macy's, Pathmark, Nanking restaurant, Regal Cinema, ...etc. It is a great place to shop around, to take a rest at some stores. There are many restaurants, fast foods, hotels, ...etc just all you can think of. Very good stop to rest before heading New York City.

    Across street of Fairway Golf Center is the famous Stelton Lanes Bowling that you can take a rest on the trip to New York City, or simply have a birthday party. The a/c is so cool with bar and arcave, drinks, food ...etc. Very good for a hot day. Sunday and Mondy from 6pm to midnight even has $1 game ... Friday and Saturday nights have Lazer Bowling Nights ...

    Villa Pizza at Hardley Shopping Center is one of the most affordable, yet tasteful place to have a quick lunch or dinner; it is right at the corner near Rohl and Kinko Federal Express. We love the two pie pizza which only charge $16.99 that our family can eat one and take another one with us on the road or home. It is convenient and good taste. We found this nice restaurant dozens years ago from Entertainment Book club when we were poor students that we often have this wonderful buy one get one free deal. Years later, we still go there once in a while, and many of our kids friends also went there for a student lunch. Sometimes,we went there around 9:30pm when it is about to close in weekdays, and just buy whatever they have left so that we can get to taste many different flavor, yet, the owner may give us a great deal on the rest. Try it.

    Bear Rock Cafe at 5020 Hadley Center Dr South Plainfield NJ 07080 accross parking lot from brand new Target and Regal Cinema at Hardley Center next to Middlesex Mall and close to Piscataway and Edison is a great place to eat lunch for professionals, to meet for young singles and college students, to enjoy quality time for families with kids. It not only has nice LCD's and fireplace seats, but also has complimentary satellite Internet Access.

    This nice restaurant is located at Centenial Av at the same shopping center of Piscataway Walmart, right next to TGI Friday, and across street from IHOP and Shoprite supermarket. Every monday night is a family night that you can order big family size plate to share at 50% the price.

    Most young families going to travel with limited budget often need to locate a great store like Walmart near the destination, and here you go! Piscataway Walmart even has a McDonald inside it so that you can park the car and feed your kids before buying some mission items for the trip. Don't hesitate to let your kids play some new games at the Electronics for 15 minutes while you shop. If you got an RV traveling from the west to New York City, you may park at Walmart parking lot; it is Walmart's policy to let you park free at the parking lot. You can get off Fwy 287 x6 heading New York City and make two left turns immediately to see Walmart, and of course, you will see Shoprite supermarket, Lowell, ...etc all there... You even found nice restaurant like Long Horn, TGI Friday, Penera Bread, Salad Works, Thai Basin, Gabriels, Red Lobsters ... you name it ...

    Piscataway is a big township and has more than one public library. John F. Kenny Library is a very nice library to visit with many Internet computers to access. It is right next to Piscataway senior senter where seniors in your family or group can drop by to play the pool table or have cup of coffe, chatting to many local seniors who can tell you whole lots of the history and stories about the town. Then next to it is the senior housing building and another side is the to be built soon YMCA Community Center. At the library, there is an auditorium can have hundreds people for the event, there are concerts, seminars, ...etc. In the kids room, there are books, games, and a small indoor playroom that small kids can play with local kids and parents can chat with local parents.

Feel tired heading to New York City from the West, say, PH, OH ... Take Hwy 78 to Fwy 287 South then get out at Exit 9 River Road then left turn to Centenial Ave will arrive. Stop for half an hour, use restroom, drink a cup of water ... fell great before heading back up to highway ...

One of which is Fairway Golf Center off Rt 529 South (Stelton Rd and Ethel Rd) that you can drop by on the way to New York City from West, say, PH, OH, IA ... for your kids to play mini golf or bumper boat ... from I-78 East to Fwy 287 South x5 to Route 529-South (Stelton Rd), 2 more miles ... You won't regret to visit this 5* Golf Center in the state. You can even spend 30 minutes at Driving range or Par 3 Course or Batting Cage before heading back to highway, about 30 minutes to New York City fresh!

    The 18-hole Rutgers University Golf Course is open to the general public from March 1 through December 15, from 6:30 a.m. (6 a.m. on weekends) until dusk. Founded in 1963, the course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.

    Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on nine holes.
