Beijing Hutong Area

Jun 14, 2006  I thought I would let people know what I ended up doing: stayed at the Heibei Government's hotel/guesthouse in the hutong area near Forbidden City [perfect location, interesting, clean, quiet, a bit lonely if one doesn't speak Chinese], bicycled for a half day around the area via CycleBeijing [from near Forbidden City], hired local AP intern to be a bilingual guide for two days, hiked the Great Wall through the GreatWallAdventure site [a GREAT experience I hope never to repeat] and am looking forward to going back. I have some interesting pictures, but they're not yet up on my site at SmugMug, but I hope they are soon. If anyone has any questions, I'll do what I can to answer them. I'm glad I decided to stay in Beijing the whole time, as I needed the rest from the hike....fascinating city.
