You can plan a great two days in this region from Bayeux, covering memorable and emotional historical highlights, a quaint village, and good french food. This itinerary will be two wonderfully well paced days--full days but not too jam packed. And Bayeux is a comfortable train ride from Paris.

  • 1. Hotel Churchill
    Hotel Churchill, Bayeux, Calvados, Basse-Normandie

Bayeux is the best base for your trip to Normandy. It is a quaint village--and one that was not significantly damaged in WWII. The Hotel Churchill in Bayeux offers a shuttle to Mont Saint Michel that works great. They same owners also own Villa Lara, right next store, as an additional hotel choice. If you are at all comfortable with walklng, The Churchill is a nice walk from the Bayeux train station.

  • 2. Overlord Tours
    OverlordTour, Bayeux, Calvados, Basse-Normandie

Day One take a full day tour like one of the full day tours at Overlord Tours. Take a tour that takes you to Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Point du Hoc and St Mere Eglise. This will be a memorable, emotional and fantastic day. Reserve your tour when you plan your trip.

  • 3. La Rapiere
    La Rapiere, Bayeux, Calvados, Basse-Normandie

After a day travelling around Normandie have a great dinner at La Rapiere. It is a cozy and older restaurant, very convenient to your hotel. Have the hotel make your reservation here when you arrive in Bayeux.

  • 4. Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel
    Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, Mont-Saint-Michel, Manche, Basse-Normandie

Day 2 start with a visit to Mont Saint Michel. The Churchill Hotel and Villa Lara Hotel have a shuttle to Mont Saint Michel. Reserve your spot in the shuttle when you reserve your room at the hotel. It is an easy way to get to and from the Mont. And it gives you a half day there, which is more than enough to climb to the top and tour the Abbey and get a little lunch. Ask the driver where he recommends for a crepe. You will return to Bayeux at 3:00.

  • 5. Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry
Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux, Bayeux, Calvados, Basse-Normandie

A tapestry? Yes, a tapestry! It may be the highlight of your trip to Normandie. It takes just an hour to see this and the surrounding exhibits once you get through any line. So its a nice fit for the afternoon after visiting Mont Saint Michel. Do the audio guide! The Tapestry Museum is close to Bayeux hotels, including the Churchill, and an easy walk.
