  • 1. Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, Honolulu, Oahu

Do not miss this! So much sea life at a gorgeous location! My boyfriend and I tried to fit the bay in, in a half day because of our short trip to this Oahu. When we got there, we wished we had planned more time there. We took the bus from Waikiki, which was pretty cheap and did not take too long. It took a while to get into the bay because you have to watch an educational video, and then walk down. Which I totally understand, but with limited time at such a beautiful place I was sad. The bay was absolutely stunning. There were so many fish that I have never seen. There was even what looked like a Morey Eel, but entirely white that came and swam right next to us for about 1 minute. Even SCUBA diving, I haven't seen the fish so abundant and intriguing. I think they even had snorkeling things on the beach that people could check out. Unfortunately my boyfriend and I could not stay long at the bay. On our way out there were pictures of fish, so you knew what you were swimming with. I asked someone about the eel (I think they were wildlife experts), and they said they had never heard of it before, it could just have been albino. It was really cool is all I can say. I would love to go back and spend more time. My family who didn't want to rush to make the half day trip (which ended up being maybe 2 hours on the beach total, were very jealous of our pictures).

  • 2. Oahu Diving
    Oahu Diving, Honolulu, Oahu

Let me start out by saying I had a very difficult time picking which dive company to dive with during our Oahu vacation. I called Oahu Diving and they had the best customer service when I called to get an idea of their different dives. Because of the customer service on the phone, I decided to go with them, and it was one of the highlights of our vacation.

Our guide Erik was so amazing. My boyfriend and I went on the beginner scuba diving trip, even though we did have some experience diving. Our guide adapted to everyone in the group's needs. He was very attentive to beginners, and helped us on a completely different level. Our guide told us about other dives Oahu Diving offered. I wish we could have gone on some, but we were leaving the island the next day, so we didn't have any time left. For example there was one dive where they would take you down and sit on a WW2 sunken plane.

We loved the pictures our guide provided. Everything about the trip was fantastic. We also went to Hanauma bay for half of the day since it was not far from where the boat left for the dive. Overall a wonderfull experience, when we are back in Oahu we will go again. We actually went on the dive in January 2011, but we have talked about it often since then, and some of our favorite pictures were taken by our guide- They were FREE. We took a bus from Honolulu to get here, pretty easy.

  • 3. Diamond Head
Diamond Head State Monument, Honolulu, Oahu

One of the coolest hikes I have done. Unique in that it was from a volcano, and I'm used to hiking mountains. We loved the views from the top. I thought the hike was pretty easy, my mom didn't think it was too easy. It was cool because it goes through some old military areas. The fee is pretty cheap. We took the bus here which wasn't too bad. I would go again, we were a little rushed for time.

  • 4. Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor / WW II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, Honolulu, Oahu

It's Pearl Harbor, what can I say? Pearl Harbor is the main reason I wanted to visit Honolulu. We took a bus to get to Pearl Harbor. The only negative thing was this excursion took a long time. We had to wai 2 hours (and we were here in the off season), just to get on a tour. Without being on a tour you can walk around the main area and explore USS. Bowfin.

  • 5. USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park
USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, Honolulu, Oahu

USS. Bowfin was pretty cool. My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun exploring the submarine. One of the highlights of our trip. There was not one bad picture we took on the submarine.

  • 6. Keo's Thai Cuisine
    Keo's Thai Cuisine, Honolulu, Oahu

Best Thai food I've ever had hands down! I had pineapple shrimp curry, and I let my mom try the leftovers (not even fresh) and she still talks about it to this day. We have been talking about the food here since we left.

  • 7. North Shore
    North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii

It was fun to visit the north shore of Oahu and watch the surfers on huge waves. It was also nice to see the island away from the city. We took a bus which was really cheap but long. Although Pearl Harbor and the Dole Pinapple Plantation were on the bus route.

  • 8. Dole Plantation
    Dole Plantation, Wahiawa, Oahu

I visited the Dole Plantation with my mom, boyfriend and brother. We actually took the bus to the north shore of Oahu to watch the surfers, and the plantation was in the middle. It was nice to take the bus for free, although it was a long drive, which is not fun for people who get car sick. Once we got there we enjoyed it. The maze was pretty cool. The pineapple sherbert was really good. We were glad we stopped, although my mom who had visited previously wasn't as interested. It was fun for about an hour, after that we were ready to leave. Glad we didn't make the entire trip just for the plantation. Not sure if I would visit again, but glad we did for this trip.

  • 9. Magic of Polynesia
    Magic of Polynesia, Honolulu, Oahu

This show was fun. It was a little expensive for our family to go to, especially if anyone got drinks. We enjoyed it, but overall it was a little expensive. It was fun to go to once, I doubt I would go again.

Pretty beach with Diamond Head in the background, but a little crowded for my tastes. It was nice since it was right next to the shopping.
