Gorumara National Park is a very good training ground for people who has never visited Jungles. You can undergo all activities you can do in an Indian Jungle namely, Jeep Safaris, Elephant Safaris, Watch Tower, Forest Bungalow Stay, Bird Watching, Tribal Village tours.
The rates are cheap and home stays are available.

Better to travel in groups which will bring down the budget considerably.

  • 2. Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary
Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary, Darjeeling, Darjeeling District

Chapramari and Gorumara are one big forest, but have been divided for administrative purpose. Chapramari is more dense and larger in size. The Forest Bungalow is also a beautiful place where you can watch animals at night. The other attraction is the Tribal Dance. We were lucky to escape a herd of elephants which was migrating.
Should book the Forest Bungalow if you donot get booking at Hollong.
Ideal Period of Stay : 1 to 3 Days
    Sightings: Elephants

  • 3. Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary
    Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Alipurduar District

Most famous forest of Dooars, is the home to one horn rhino, but the main attractions are the flying gems like Eagles, Fishing Owls, Hornbills.
Attractiions: Elephant Safari and Hollong Bungalow. The light and Sound show at Jaldapara Tourist Lodge.
Sightings: Rhino, Sambar Deer, Fishing Owl, Eagle, Peacocks.
Ideal Stay Period : 1 to 3 days.

  • 4. Chilapata Wildlife Sanctuary
Chilapata Wildlife Sanctuary, Birpara, Alipurduar District

The newly discovered and the most dense forest of Dooars. Situated directly opposite Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary on the banks of River Torsa. We were really awed by the existence of such a dense forest in West Bengal.
Attractions: Ambiance, Nal Raja Shiva Temple Ruins
    Sightings: Herd of Elephants
Ideal Stay Period: 1 to 2 days tag it with Jaldapara.
