  • 1. National Key Deer Refuge
National Key Deer Refuge, Big Pine Key, Florida Keys

Hmmm? What's so BIG About BIG PINE KEY? Not the deer, that's for sure! They're the smallest and definitely the cutest deer around. They are very accustomed to people and will "beg" for food. Please refrain from feeding or even "accidently" dropping food - they need to be able to find food on their own to survive.

DO take pictures and keep your distance even if they approach you.

  • 2. No Name Pub
No Name Pub, Big Pine Key, Florida Keys

What's the BIGGEST DEAL in BIG PINE KEY? The DEAL you get at No Name Pub! Great food and a super-secret-squirrel location (good luck - its not on No Name Key).

  • 3. Seacamp for Kids 12-17

BIG FUN is what this camp is all about. Check out the website and make this a part of your child's vacation. Almost all children attending Monroe County schools have attended this camp for 3 days - ask one of them how GREAT it is. I know my own kids still talk about it years later.

  • 4. The Blue Hole

What's the BIGGEST Hole on BIG PINE? The BLUE HOLE.

  • 5. Dive or Snorkel the Adolphus Busch, Sr.

Go on a BIG dive and explore this artificial reef. This 210 foot freighter, sunk in 1998, appeared in the movie "Fire Down Below" starring Jack Lemmon, Robert Mitchum and Rita Hayworth in 1957.

  • 6. Underwater Music Festival

You've seen a tightrope act, a juggling act, and maybe even a Vegas act but have you ever seen an UNDERWATER ELVIS act?
Every summer a BIG underwater music festival draws over 600 snorkel and diver spectators who listen and watch artists perform their underwater acts. The main point is conveyed as a fun educational message, written and recorded by Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary officials, offering tips on how to enjoy these beautiful waters while minimizing impact and remaining safe.
After the concert underwater art for purchase is always displayed in the Big Pine Winn Dixie shopping plaza.

  • 7. Bahia Honda State Park

Many people know about Bahia Honda's great beach but did you know you could rent a cabin in the Florida Keys? Be prepared to experience the tropics as the first residents did. Don't forget to enter the montly Florida State Park photo contest on the Florida State Park website! Also, check out the reviews on TripAdvisor's review page.
