This link should provide you some rough idea of what Langkawi is all about. It's a place for nature lover and perfect place to let children explore nature.
We traveled there from Kuala Kedah using ferry. We kept our luggage to minimum since most of the items can be bought in Kuah - diapers, milk etc. We just bring the essentials. We even bought cheap t-shirt there.
We rent a car in Langkawi - we've tried different types and lastly found that a cute little kelisa is just nice for 4 of us. Cheap (rental and petrol) and easy to handle.
I find this resort really good for families with small children. The facilities can keep both children and parents entertain all day. It's a bit pricey but worth the money spent.
There's children pool, playground etc. Morning - 1 hr at the pool. Then went sightseeing and lunch outside. Evening - pool again and spend the rest of the evening at the beach.
There are plenty of restaurants, shops around especially in pantai cenang which is a short drive from the hotel. This hotel is away from the crowded part of pantai cenang - which we like very much. The beach is secluded too and not as crowded as pantai cenang.
Ladies , there's a ladies' indoor pool and a nice spa for you to pamper yourselves!
There BBQ and cultural show every Friday evening at the hotel.
My children enjoy the ride but if they are afraid of height then this is not recommended. We also enjoyed the scenic drive along the way.
5. Trip round the island
We simply enjoy driving round the island. Just grab a map and go. Just make sure the car is in good condition and fuel at reasonable level. Only rm30 for Kelisa and it lasted for 2 days.
We started from our hotel in Pantai tengah and drove to cable car. Stopped by at telaga tujuh waterfall. then drove all the way to Datai. We love the scenery! Then drove to Tanjung Rhu and let the kids play with the sand there.
Drove back to Kuah. I plan to try the mangrove tour next round but this time I don't think my 1 yr old can stand the tour.
There are several attractions along the way - air hangat , wildlife park, makam mahsuri etc but we did not stopped since we've been there before.
