How can you go wrong with a Disney trip? We did not do a package deal since we almost always find better rates doing the research ourselves! I would recommend spending the time to check prices like crazy. Hey! It's Disney...plan on big bucks! I think with two hungry teens we budgeted $200 a day for food. We hit the mark too!
We LOVED this hotel! It is more like staying in a condo/apartment with housekeeping every day! We had a beautiful suite and very large master bathroom. The kids had their own room with two queen beds, plus a living room and small kitchen - full kitchen with everything you could want IF you decided to cook. I guess after a week in the park we were ready for a few non-restaurant meals. We always ate breakfast in the room and then one night bought a few things for spaghetti. This hotel has a gorgeous pool close shopping/dining and easy shuttle access to the park. Although the travel books all say it is further away from the parks, you just have to be prepared that ALL hotels are not closer then a 20 minute bus ride anyway! We would give this place five stars all the way!
Taking your diabetic teen into a place that has more yummy snacks and high carb foods can be really daunting. But our son did great. He is on an insulin pump and as long as you can count carb pretty accurately, you'll do fine! If you have more question on Type 1 care, let me know. But diabetes has not stopped our travels. I think Sawyer calculated 83 carbs for a Mickey bar and ate one almost every afternoon while in the park!
