Your Perfect Saturday Morning begins with a walk to the corner of King and South Patrick Street for a cup of the best coffee like you've never had before at Misha's (the anti-Starbucks). Go for the Route 66 its roasted daily and its shows.
You will proceed east on King Street and follow the crowds carrying empty shopping bags and baskets to the Market Square at 301 King Street (in front of the City Hall Building). Be sure to scratch the ears of the nearest pooch tied to the trees and waiting dutifully for mom or dad to return baskets brimmed to the top.
Take your time perusing the local offerings of baked goods, meats, cheeses, and of course, vegetables. Meet various artists plying their wares and on your way out of the square...stop by Franks for some fresh squeezed orange juice and a pastry from Hollin Hall Pastry Shop's stand.
Stop at the CVS and pick up the early edition of the Sunday papers. Continue your stroll down toward the river and, weather permitting...find a bench facing the sunshine and proceed to check out the sale ads of the Sunday paper.
Return to your room. Take a brief nap. Wake up. Walk back down King Street and peruse the menus of all the interesting restaurants and dependent on your mood..pick the place for an early afternoon brunch. In the mood for a crab cake...no sweat. The Bloody Mary's and crab cakes at The Wharf are legendary. In the mood for a healthy breakfast? Try South Austin Grill, they have a great breakfast brunch.
Go home and take another nap....get ready to do it all again for dinner. Enjoy. Also, if you see two chocolate cocker spaniels sitting on the benches...remember we got there first...and don't forget to say "hi".!
