1. The New York Times on the Nashville dining scene
There are a number of great coffee shops in Nashville, which range from casual cafes to high-end coffee artisans. One of our favorites not listed in the above link is Barrista Parlor in East Nashville.
Great for: Special occasions and big evenings
Margot's is our standby choice for birthday and anniversary-type dinners. It's right in the heart of East Nsshville's 5-Points, a neighborhood with a number of other restaurants and bars, all within easy walking distance of one another.
Great for: Weekend brunch
Marche is a lunch and casual dining place located at 1000 Main St behind Margot Cafe. It's run by the same people as Margot's, and although the setting is more relaxed, the food is just as wonderful.
The Pharmacy has some of the best burgers in town, as well as a great beer selection and house-made sodas. There's an outdoor beer garden area that is fantastic in the nice weather. Try not to hit the dinner rush or it can be very hard to find a seat!
Great for: Lunches, days in the park There are many BBQ joints in Nashville, but Hog Heaven has become our favorite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is excellent! In the nice weather it's great to spend an afternoon in Centennial Park with a sandwich and a frisbee.
Great for: Casual meals with friends or family
The Family Wash is located in an old laundrymat in the historic neighborhoods of East Nashville. It has a wonderful local feel, and features musicians on many nights.
Great for: Date night, dinner with friends Tin Angel has been one of our standby date-night restaurants for the last five years. The food is always great, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly.
Great for: Breakfast/lunch
This is a Nashville standby, and though the line seems intimidating it will actually move pretty quickly. You can send someone up the street to Fido's for coffee while you wait.
