McCarran International Airport (LAS) is the primary commercial airport in the Las Vegas area. The airport, which is located about five miles from downtown Las Vegas, offers non-stop flights to dozens of cities across the United States, as well as to destinations in Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe. Allegiant Air, Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines all use the airport as a mini-hub.
The busiest domestic routes from Las Vegas are Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Atlanta and Phoenix.
A second airport in the area, Boulder City Municipal Airport, only offers commercial sightseeing flights to the Grand Canyon.
If you’re looking for inexpensive flights from Las Vegas, you’re in luck. Low-cost carrier Southwest is the largest airline operating at the airport. Other budget airlines that fly from McCarran include AirTran Airways, Allegiant, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Spirit, Mexican carrier Volaris and Canadian airline WestJet. Domestic destinations served by the airlines include Chicago, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu, New Orleans and San Francisco. International destinations include Calgary, Mexico City, Toronto and Vancouver. When searching for cheap fares, ensure that your search includes all of the airlines that fly from LAS.
If you’ve grown tired of New York-New York Hotel and Casino, maybe it’s time to visit the real thing: New York City. When planning your trip to the Big Apple, here are some important things to know.
There are several airports in the New York area, including John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue and Virgin America offer non-stop flights from Las Vegas to JFK, and United Airlines offers non-stop flights to EWR. No airlines fly from LAS to LGA.
New York City is a popular vacation destination all year long, but tourist visits drop slightly in January and February. These are also two of the coldest months, on average, but if you’re willing to visit in these off-peak months you’re more likely to find lower hotel rates.
If going to the theater is a priority, buy tickets in advance. However, if you’re flexible you’ll be able to purchase half-price tickets to many Broadway and off-Broadway shows.
