Beijing-Area Airports

There are two airports in the Beijing area that offer commercial airline service: Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and Beijing Nanyuan Airport (NAY).

Beijing Capital is the busiest airport in Asia and the second busiest in the world. Located 20 miles northeast of the city center, Beijing Capital is served by dozens of domestic and international carriers that offer flights to hundreds of destinations worldwide. The airport is a hub for Air China, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, and a mini-hub for China Eastern Airlines and S7 Airlines.

Beijing Nanyuan, which is primarily a military air base, is also a hub for China United Airlines, which is the only commercial airline that operates at the airport. The airline has scheduled service to about 40 destinations across China.

Finding Cheap Flights from Beijing

Whether you’re traveling for business or taking a vacation, cheap flights are sometimes a necessity.

When booking travel from Beijing, don’t limit your search to just one airline. Including all carriers in your search will help ensure that you find the lowest airfares.

Only a couple low-cost carriers fly out of Beijing Capital. Those include AirAsia X, which offers cheap flights to Kuala Lumpur, and Cebu Pacific Air, which offers budget flights to Manila. An alternative is to take the high speed train to Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport (SJW), which is a mini-hub for budget airline Spring Airlines. The train trip is about 80 minutes. From SJW, travelers can fly Spring to Hong Kong.
