"now living in spain when travelling to any long haul trip , we always flew back to the uk ,normally heathrow , but living in alicante there were no direct flights back to heathrow , so 3 years ago ,i decided to fly to new york via madrid ,it included a 1 hour 50 minutes stop over in madrid ,we took a bit of a chance by booking non transferable no money back deal costing us euro 480 each( including our flights from alicante ) , but we were so glad we did , everything went like clockwork , checked luggage in at alicante never saw them again till we picked them up at jfk , the food was good with wine , we enjoyed it so much we have used for the next two years"

"Gate number given had another destination boarding right up to 20 mins before our flight time causing confusion Ridiculously slow boarding with people hauling large hand luggage up steps Some people could barely make the climb empty handed Landed 30 mins late Then the usual trek through puddles and rain to the terminal However flights were cheap ,legroom not too bad Alicante airport small,easy to navigate with a good duty free and food court"

"However at Alicante airport we were supposed to have priority boarding which never happened so by the time we did get on board the overhead bins were already full even though we had paid extra for the seats in row 2 it meant our carry on bags were in bins further back causing pushing and shoving when trying to get to them to get off in Cardiff"
