Arriving in Bora Bora

Bora Bora is a luxurious resort destination and is a very popular vacation spot that is well worth the airfare for a visit. Your cheap flight to Bora Bora will arrive at the Bora Bora Airport, also known as the Motu Mute Airport, as it is located on the islet of Motu Mute. It is a small airport with the basic amenities that you would expect, as well as paid access to Wi-Fi hot spots if you need to check email or conduct business after your Bora Bora flight. You will need to take the free ferry shuttle from Motu Mute to the main island. The airport shuttle takes you to Vaitape, and from there small buses will pick up passengers to continue to your hotel.

Getting Around Bora Bora

Bora Bora has very limited public transportation in the form of a single bus that goes half way around the island and back approximately every hour. Many of the resorts are on the smaller islets rather than the main island, and those resorts typically provide boat transfers to and from the main island as well as the airport. On the main island you will find that there are taxis available. Renting a bicycle or a scooter is also a possibility if you plan on exploring.

Main Attractions

The fact that Bora Bora is situated around a very large lagoon makes it a wonderful place to do water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Check out Bora Bora Lagoonarium to come face to face with aquatic wildlife in a captive environment, or take a Shark & Ray Snorkel Safari to feed sharks and rays on open water. More adventurous travelers might enjoy kiteboarding or jet ski tours to experience the beauty of Bora Bora from a different view. If you plan on spending some time on land, there is plenty of hiking, horseback riding, and even some Jeep tours that will take you over rough terrain as well as to the WWII ruins.

Shopping, Dining, Nightlife

Now that you've saved money on your airfare to Bora Bora, you won't be disappointed with the shopping options available on Bora Bora. There are numerous shops and boutiques along the road around the island. Many resorts also offer shopping. When you are ready for a bite to eat, try some local fare at Bounty Snack or Kaina Hut. There isn't a large nightlife scene on Bora Bora, and much of what does exist takes place at various resorts. The island's one nightclub is La Recife Discotheque, offering drinks and dancing. Book a flight to Bora Bora today to experience an exotic vacation in a beautiful location.
