Thank you. What would some recommendations be for where to stay?
DC and Crystal City is waaaaaay too far away. There are several excellent landmarks around Quantico, Stafford and Fredericksburg.
The traffic and parking issues in DC and Crystal City is outrageous. Plus it's a slower pace with much better food options and family activities. Several Civil War parks, museums, and the like.
Well it depends on whether you are renting a car, have your own vehicle or just looking for a place to stay close to Quantico. If You have a vehicle there are places to stay in the Alexandria area. A few places close to Quantico are: Courtyard Stafford Quantico, Ramada Triangle, Affordable Suites of America Quantico. I hope this info helps you. Good Luck! Jim F
We stayed at the Presidential Resort, the closest RCI timeshare to DC, which was about 30 mins from the museum and used that as a base from which to explore both DC and the Fredericksburg historical area. But there are lots of hotels off of Rt 95 which are closer and very nice.
Thank you all so much! So appreciate the advice.
Think we might just stay at Courtyard, then make our way to DC the next day.
We came from but Washington has some lovely places to stay and the Museum will give you some ideas if you call
There is a Ramada Inn in Triangle, VA not far from the museum. It has a 3.7 rating from past guests. I have never stayed here but if close proximity is what you are looking for, then try this motel.
cannot go wrong with courtyard by marriott
We stayed in Quantico - Courtyard by Marriot. Excellent service; staff was great.
If DC is what you came to see, then stay in the heart of DC. You can rent a car for a day and venture out to the USMC museum and a few other attractions.
I would stay at a nearby exit with a lot of hotels to choose from. I wouldn't recommend where we stayed. Sorry I can't be more specific.
Thanks...that provides real food for thought. We thought to drive into Quantico after a last wedding event in Charlottesville the (en route to DC.) My husband is planning on spending at least 5 hours, as he is very interested in this museum. Thought if staying in Quantico, we'd just get up and see the museum first thing, before heading to DC in the afternoon.
I so appreciate your advice!
I would suggest staying in DC or Crystal City on thr north end or Fredricksburg on the south end. There is not too much else to see in Quantico unless you have family on base. The other options have more to see and are not that far away.
Thank you for taking the time!..I actually wondered about the
Quantico Courtyard by Marriott? Have you heard anything about that?
There's a Ramada Inn about 1 mile away off I-95 and one exit up on Rt 234 is a Holiday Inn at Fettler Park.
I've not heard good things about them, but if it's just for sleeping and showering with all your time elsewhere then it's fine.
Depends if you have a car.
