Tirta Gangga Questions & Answers

Subang Jaya, Malaysia

Hi, where exactly the temple situated and where you stayed. I plan to go Bali, but confuse with Kuta, Sanur and Ubud. Im not sure where exactly all the temple situated. I wanted to visit hindu temples/historic places.

When in bali we stayed in 5 places - the traffic is quite bad and we preferred changing accommodation and being close to places rather than driving around - even if driving around is rather cheap.

For Tirta Gangga, you could stay for example either in Sideman or Amed

I would stay rather in Ubud than Kuta as Kuta is party 24h. Sanur was OK but really not much to see and architecture was very poor. In Ubud there is so much more and easy to go everywhere. If you decide to stay in the south, I recommend Seminyak, Canggu or Legian. Less crowded and party people.

I stayed in Surya Kembar Villas in center of Ubud (u could Google) and almost temples around Ubud. But it takes a lot of time for visiting all temples. So we decided visit only 3 temples in Eastern. They are Besakih (must visiting), Tirta Gangga and Tirta Empul.

Ubud is highland for relax and Kuta is beach for nightlife (bar, pub...)

I recommend to stay in Ubud, it has many historical places around. Tirta Gangga is around 1,5 hours drive. There is a majestic Hindu Temple and Water palace near Tirta Gangga, so I recommend a full day to see these places. Also on the way back to Ubud you will see a little temple with lots of monkeys around. They are very friendly.

Make sure you stop there for a few photos, and take a bunch of bananas from home if you want to feed them.

When I travelled, I hired a scooter. This gives a great feeling and you see much more. However, I recommend to have a car with a driver , its safe.

It's off the beaten path a bit. I recommend getting a driver to take you there and other temples out that way as part of a day tour. There is a hotel attached to Tirta Ganga though.
