Kings' Land by Hilton Grand Vacations Questions & Answers

Suffern, New York

Hi there! My family and I are traveling to King's Land in september and we are very excited for the pool but we also have some Hawaii first timers so we are very interested in checking out a beach. Does the resort supply transportation? What are things we should bring with us? What are the best beaches? Thanks so much!

Yes you will need a car. The only shuttle we have is to the other Hiltons in the area and Queens Marketplace. Hapuna Beach is quite beautiful.

Definitely rent a car and the hotel concierge always recommends this. Nicest beach and closest is Hapuna Beach. Highly recommend this beach but bring a cooler for drinks and sandwiches and snacks. Rent or buy boogie boards.

You need to rent a car on the Big Island. It's big and you don't want to miss out on going to some of the best beaches in the world. Hapuna Beach, Beach 69 are great. Kahalu'u is great for snorkelling as well as Place of Refuge south of Kona town.

The transportation provided by HGVC Kings' Land takes you to the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort and to the 2 shopping areas: Queens' Marketplace and Kings' Shops, with a stop at the HGVC Kohala Suites, the other HGVC property in Waikoloa Beach Resort.

As far as what to bring, sunscreen of course.

You are going to have a wonderful time in King's Land. I am not much of a beach goer but did visit many beaches while on the Big Island. Hulagirl above has given you a great answer and I really can't add much. Do go to Costco as it has some great easy meals. As Hulagirl mentioned, Be sure to bring plenty of zip plastic bags both big and small and a soft sided cooler or purchase one while there.

Be sure to rent a car as you will need one. We booked through Costco online and got the BEST prices! We ended up with a convertible for less than a compact car on other websites. Enjoy!

You will want to rent a car on the Big Island. Hapuna Bay will be your best option for a nearby beach. The island also has black sand and green sand beaches that are a considerable drive. The Hilton Resort pool next door to Kings Land has a lagoon pool with real sand, fed from ocean with sea turtles, fish, barracuda, etc in it. You can snorkel and swim in a beach-like area.

Hi,

I don't know about transportation around the resort area. You could walk to A-bay, but I think it is over a mile. I wasn't very impressed with A-bay, although we did visit the beach to see the sunset which was beautiful. I really recommend renting a car, it will be well worth it. Here are a few things that I don't think you should miss:

Hapuna Beach- absolutely beautiful beach that is about 8 miles from Kings Land. The sand is beautiful and the water is amazing. I think parking is 5 dollars.

Manini'owali Beach aka Kua Bay- The most beautiful beach on the island!!! Get there early, parking is free but there isn't a ton of parking.

Sea Hawaii Rafting- 3 to 4 hour raft boat tour. The owner Chris will feed you lunch and take you on the trip of a life time. He has snorkel gear for you to use. He will take you to a few spots to snorkel, sea caves and will stop any time he spots sea life. He is such a nice guy.

Kona Brewing Company is located in the Kona area. They have excellent food. We don't eat out when we go to the Big Island except for Kona Brewing Company.

The pools at Kings Land are amazing. They provide you will towels and have very nice beach chairs. They have water slides and several different pools.

As for the condo- you don't need dish soap, laundry detergent or shampoo/conditioner. They will replenish your supply any time you request it. If you are going to cook and prepare meals for the beach you should bring things from home that are easy to pack. I always kick myself for forgetting to bring sandwich baggies, plastic utensils and salt and pepper. Anything food or food preparation/storage that you can pack will save you money in the long run.

Also there is a Target, Costco and Walmart close to the airport for your shopping needs. There is an Island Gourmet grocery store in the resort area that is a little overpriced and a real grocery store Foodland Farms in the Mauna Lani resort area right down the main highway.

You are going to have a great time. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.

I am unsure of any transportation to the beach that is pretty close by. It is called Anaehoomalu Bay. It is very near the Marriott Resort when you first come in to Waikoloa. There are some really nice beaches even further up the coast that are all public as well. Hapuna Beach and the nearby Mauna Kea beach are nice too. I would say they are all no more than about 20-25 minutes away from Kings Land. I'm not sure what you are asking about bringing with you, other than the typical beach gear. You can rent snorkels from one of the best rental shops called Snorkel Bob's. They will fit you and your family and, if travelling to other islands you may even take it along with you and return it to the local shops there. I have to add here with your family being along, they will no doubt fall in love with the pools available at King's Land. But the beaches far outweigh any pool....
