Is this hotel in a good area?....safe to walk around in?
As a woman who has to travel at least three months of the year, I have to say I would not take a walk beyond going to my car or taking a dog out for its business. There is a large metal fence surrounding the property, but it did not keep people from walking off the street to look into cars in the parking lot. The area is not well lit and if you leave the property you will need to drive. For a few dollar more, you will be able to find a place closer to parks and in a safer place.
I wouldn't say it's a bad area, but I certainly wouldn't feel safe walking around at night, either. Besides, there's nothing to walk to. There was a small convenience store across the street where a homeless man in a wheelchair sat in the parking lot the evening we arrived. He was still sitting there the next morning when we left. You wouldn't catch me out at night except to get to my vehicle.
This hotel is Not in a safe area by any means
No joke... it's barely safe to park your car in the lot and sketchy on the street
This is not what I would call a safe area. It is on a busy street near a busy intersection and there really is no place to walk to. Take your dog for a walk in this fenced area, but be aware it is not well lit at night and we witnessed people coming off the street to look into cars parked at the hotel.
If you have to walk a pet you will be fine. Other then that there isn't much to walk to just other hotels and a few restaurants I suppose. There are many parks with hundreds of acres a short drive away if you wish to do a lot of walking in a huge green space, Overton park near the Memphis zoo...
Not exactly, a industrial area but I guess during day would be alright.
The area isn't the best but nowadays trouble is everywhere. I did not feel unsafe. I'm a police officer and what I tell everyone who asks is always be aware of your surroundings wherever you are. If you look like a victim you will be a victim. The area did not make me regret staying there.
We have stayed there a number of times and never felt insecure. I have never just "walked around" other than walking the dog, however, and have not strayed far from the hotel property.
Hello Ms. Carolyn C
The area is descent. We have a lot of guests that walk up & down the cove with their pets or without their pets and some walk around the block. All of our guests' safety is our priority and we wouldn't suggest anyone to walk outside if it wasn't safe, we value both, safety and business, but safety first. None of our guests complained about the area not being safe. Our front desk is always alert at the desk at night to ensure safety, and yes it is safe to park your car in the parking lot. Nobody can really control who walks on the street at any given time, sometimes they are just guests' from other hotels walking on this cove/street, going to the gas station for something and back, they don't want to drive because it's very near and they are tired of driving. We promise to ensure safety.
