They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what I need - parking is free if you spend $10 (their 365 brand is affordable!) and you're not there more than two hours, last time I did this, anyway; things change so check ahead. Enjoy!
Portland is a great walking city. Park a ways out and take public transportation and enjoy the walk.
We parked at our hotel, Northrop Inn Station. From there we used streetcar system.
Use trams or Wholefoods a block away has parking ( shhhh ) K
I would suggest other transport. Parking available and if you are okay to walk a little. We went in early parked there and after Powells took a tour that returned us to Powells, so convenience was key.
Agree with all the walkers! Left car at hotel and walked for miles around this wonderful city ....most of them around Powell's
Truthfully, I never even looked for parking as we walked this city. We did see lots of street parking, though. ;)
I walked everywhere. I took the max and streetcars but found walking just as close. You can find more interesting spots walking around on your own.
Take the train to downtown.
We took the MAX rail system from our hotel. 5 bucks per adult for the day and no stress. it's a little bit of a walk from the Red Line to the bookstore, so maybe check other colors. but we'll worth leaving the car parked at the hotel.
We rode the max rail into the Pearl District. Easy and no parking worries. I know they have a parking lot (found it on my Garmin) but opted not to bother with a car in downtown Portland. Too much traffic and too many one way streets.
