Is the lobster cruise good for younger children (my youngest will be just shy of 3)? Is motion sickness medication a good idea?
HI - we recommend the lobster trips for kids as it is the shortest and stays very close to shore. If your child has had problems with motion sickness in the past you could consider giving them something but it's usually not a problem. The best thing you can do is check conditions the day you'd like to go, as the seas are usually calm but occasionally we do have choppy seas. Looking forward to seeing you in Perkins Cove!
Didn't do the lobster cruise but heard kids love it. I sucked on ginger candy and didn't get sick. Depends on the time of year and weather with rough seas.
I think it's great for all ages, usually don't need motion meds unless very bad weather.
We went on a nice afternoon and the trip was great. You could certainly feel the boat rocking but they stay close to shore and stop the boat often to pull up traps and to point things out. My kids were 5 and 9 at the time and nobody felt seasick. I am the one prone to get queasy and I felt fine.
My advice is that if the ocean doesn't look too rough, go for it and don't worry about the dramamine. It was a really fun adventure, too. The guides do a great job and they really like working with kids.
