Natural Bridges State Beach Questions & Answers

Sacramento, California

My family is planning on visiting the Natural Bridges State Beach towards the end of this month...I really want to see the Monarch Butterflies but it sounds like this is not a good time to see them. Is this year not a good year for them?

My husband and I just went in early October and we were able to see a lot of Monarch butterflies in the preserve and on the trail! October seems to be a good time to go.

The time to see the butterflies is past. It is a seasonal time for the butterflies. It was a great butterfly season this year, too. Sorry you missed it.

I went to Natural Bridges in September and only saw a handful of monarchs as it was too early. I spoke to people who said the trees would be covered in a couple of weeks.

The Monarchs are there between mid October through early March. It may be that you have just missed them by a few weeks if you go at the end of March.

I've never gone to the Natural Bridges to see the Monarch butterflies and I've never seen them each time I've been there.
