Were you in a main standard room or were you in a cottage. I was booked for a standard room and they are trying to get me to book a cottage.
We stayed in a ground floor room (not a cottage) with the cement floor at the far end of the resort. It was quiet and we always felt safe. Pack some flip-flops if you don't want to walk on cement. Everything in our room was in working order and clean.
The standard room was just fine for us. It was very spacious. I wouldn’t see any need to pay more for a cottage. The hotel grounds are very small and I wouldn’t see any need to get closer to the ocean.
We we were in a standard room and it was big, clean, and functional but not fancy. Everything is a short walk.
We were in a standard room- I am not sure what the advantage is to the cottage other than they are closer to the ocean and are a bit more private. The standard rooms were a great size- plenty of space for 4. The bathroom was fine. The ice machines don't work on the property that I could see and even if they did- you might want to avoid them as the water may not be sanitized. There are no refridgerators in the standard room. You can buy cold drinks at a number of little markets that surround the hotel at a cheaper price- including gallons of water.
There are no ice machines in the rooms & no ice machines working on the grounds.. you have to fill your ice bucket at the Bar.. the nice cottages are directly facing the Marina & docks.. they would have a nice Ocean Breeze & the sound of the Ocean, .. the Marina is not that busy during the summer months.. weekdays.. Ask if the cottages have been recently renovated.. some have.. I was told that by the director of operations. she called me after reading my comments.. on Tripadvisor.. Wifi is very poor in the standard rooms, it may be better closer to the docks and Marina, in the cottages.
I was in a standard 2nd floor room with Balcony overlooking the Pool.. there is a staircase to the 2nd level of rooms.. I had heard that some of the rooms have been recently renovated.. ask about those room, the older rooms have concrete floors.. the cottages near the Marina might be nice.. make sure they have working a/c as some of them are set back amongst the Palm Trees near the hammocks & may be very hot in the summer months.
I was in a standard room And i booked a double (two Queen beds) NOT ON THE GROUND FLOOR ( not enough privacy facing the garden or pool). That’s exactly the reason why i don’t recommend a cottage Accommodation. The decoration both in stsndard and cottage is really poor but cottages are at the very end of the garden quite on the docks by the MARINA. Hope i helped.
