How difficult is travel to DC from this location without a car?
easy to travel in to the dc area. as others have said, metro for most inexpensive way and then a cab ride - at the time of writing I think it's in the order of 20 to 25 dollars journey from dc centre.
Forgot to mention.... Very safe area. Easy walk (minutes) to large strip center with supermarkets, restaurants, movie theatre, shops, Target (if you forgot anything), Dunkin Donuts, etc.
Easy as can be. A free shuttle, which runs throughout the day, takes you to the Crystal City (by the way Crystal City has many restaurants) Metro. It is a short ride. You can even walk to the Crystal City Metro (about a 15-20 minute walk).
Absolutely hands down, you do not need a car.
No problem at all. The hotel has a shuttle that runs every 20 minutes to the Crystal City Metro station. I believe the shuttles run between 6:00 a.m. And 11:00 p.m.
You will need a Metro card to ride the train. The train is mostly subway with a couple places that are elevated. The trains make multiple stops.
Go to the DC metro website for a map of the stops. My only issue with the metro is there is no 3 or 7 day unlimited pass like in NYC.
Very easy. There is a shuttle from the hotel to the Metro, then Metro almost anywhere in DC. If the weather is nice, it's a pleasant walk to the Metro, but the shuttle is convenient and reliable. We never get a car when we stay in this area.
