Hello, I am considering visiting El Crater Hotel in the wintertime. Is there heating in the rooms for when it is cold? Thank you!
Aaron, as we learned in visiting Ecuador recently, there are no seasons on the Equator. As such, there is no wintertime. Many, if not most, hotels in Ecuador do not have heat in the rooms. At El Crater, our room had two oil-filled convection heaters, one of which did not appear to work, so we asked for a third heater since we thought that our room was cold when we arrived. We were also brought additional blankets. It takes a long time for these to fill the space (with no insulation in the walls); however, we woke up during the night feeling very hot and dry.
I was there June Last year (my photo is inside the crater). Living in and being acclimated to Florida I tend to get cold very easy. However, I found the room to be beautiful, beds to be very warm and cozy and the view beyond words, (definitely pay the extra 15$ for the top floor).... the space heaters kept the room comfortable for me, at one point even a little too warm. I also kept warm socks close to the bed.....The food in the restaurant is delicious, friendly staff... I found the place to be all around fantastic. There is a trail within walking distance to go down into the crater and explore, ....its incredible....My time spent at El Crater was definitely a highlight of my trip. I hope I haven't responded too late. Enjoy this Beautiful Place!
