Hi, I would be visiting Singapore in August 2018 with my parents. My mother has knee problem for which she cannot walk too long. Is this park good for people like my mom, who can sit and enjoy the tranquility of the park?
Not really - whilst flat - its not the easiest place to get to from hotel areas of Singapore. Would recommend the botanical gardens and orchid gardens within.
No, better go to botanical garden, the former one where people do take their wedding pix
Yes there is a beautiful covered area at entrance to park but no food services, maybe you should consider the botanical gardens this is where I would take my mother have a great time
Think like most people here suggest, Botanic.garden is more suitable.for.your mum.
I don't know how bad is your mum's knee problem, but the entire trail is approximately 11km. I would only recommend the whole trail to people who:-
(a) can stand walking for HOURS in the heat and humidity;
(b) are not afraid of monkeys and snakes.
Alternatively, you can just skip the whole trail and just visit the frontal portion of the park.
If your mum is still up for this, please pack:-
- Cool and breathable clothes.
- Good walking/hiking shoes and socks.
- Plenty of drinking water
- Small towel - it gets sweaty
- Sun protection - sunglasses, hat, umbrella, sunblock, as some parts of the Park are not shaded.
- Natural mosquito repellent.
To get there: Take a public bus and alight at Bus-stop ID: 51071 - MacRitchie Reservoir (or just flag a taxi).
