Carlos the Caveman Tours - Day Tours Questions & Answers

Just a question, how the heck did you get a hold of Carlos? lol

How did you book?

His website is down and emailing him has been spotty.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So sorry I didn’t see this question earlier or I would have tried to help. We started asking around and the traffic guard used her phone to call him for us! He explained to us that he used to have a website, but got ripped off by the person who was to upgrade it for him so he just took it down. He gets enough word of mouth clients anyway. Carlos is definitely worth the extra effort to find him. The contact phone number on his Trip Adviser Page is the best way to reach him.

Definitely too late to answer - I got a hold of him through my AirBnB host who is friends with Gonzo from River Rat. Carlos and Gonzo sometimes switch off on who is guiding a tour - especially if you’re a solo traveler. Both guides are fantastic and worth the extra effort. Any local in downtown San Ignacio will know who you’re asking for or trying to find if you speak of Gonzo or Carlos the Caveman. They are well known, well liked, and give great tours.

I saw large groups in the caves from the mainstream tours and it didn’t seem nearly as special. They were super loud and sort of obnoxious/disrespectful. My tour had 3 people, but capacity is 6 at most so you’ll definitely have a very intimate and special experience.

Way to late to answer but most local hotels have his number. He wasn’t big on replying but he turned up on time and put on a great day.

Hi, I just emailed him from the email provided on his website

I don't recall him answering within 24 hrs, but he was very trusting and dependable. So once you make plans, I would depend on them staying that way :) Hopefully you get a hold of him! Best of luck.

I stayed at Tia Maria Guesthouse and they contacted him directly. I highly recommend that accommodation too.

Hi Mandy, I did not contact Carlos directly, but got it organized using my B&B. The owners of "Vanilla Hills Lodge", where I stayed when doing the tour with Carlos, know him very well and directly call him on his mobile. If you want to stay in the region, stay with them and ask if they can organize the tour with Carlos for you. Best, Sascha
