A 91 yr old vet friend would like me to be his escort on an honor flight. I am an 80 yr old woman ( not a vet). What would be the requirements for me to do this?
I think your vet friend needs to fill out an application at the honor flight website. I believe the guardians/escorts are volunteers or staff members of honor flight and anyone accompanying the veteran would have to pay for their own flight...
IF YOU ARE IN good health depending several things only you would know, and if you are flying with no troubles, why not life is shorter than you think.
I'm not certain what an "honor flight" means since it is restricted air space. If he means he would like you to go while he and other vets are being honored, there was one in progress at the WWII memorial when I was there just after Memorial Day weekend. The vets were mostly in wheelchairs with their families propelling them through this handicapped accessible site (they all are - just ask the Park Rangers where the elevator is). If you can better describe what the honor flight means, I suspect more of us could be able to give you more specifics. I hope you're able to do it! Best wishes
