Old Town Questions & Answers

Dublin, Ireland

Hi there

My boyfriend and I have krakow booked for next week 18-22 March. We are supposed to be travelling from Dublin.

We are not sure whether to continue with the trip, or cancel it due to corona virus. Are most tourist places still open? I’m aware museums are starting to close etc. Just wondering if it will be worth it for us to go as we wanted to visit Auschwitz etc.

We were planning to fly out of Warsaw and get the train from krakow to Warsaw.

If anyone could provide us with some information that would be great

Good afternoon, sorry for the late answer. I owe it to you anyway. I must have missed the message all together. I was planning and moving a country just before the total European lockdown. From Belgium to Luxembourg and just just made it, but I did!!!

Krakow to Warsaw is a worth while trip. 3 hours by train one way? If you get to krakow ever again, do it: old town, summer time nice walk along the river, shopping skyline etcetc

You also can go to Budapest or Prague. If only interested in staying in southern Poland: salt mines are also a must.

Hope you are well and safe getting ready for the new year!

Best wishes,

AJ

Best put it off, as everything is closing in Poland and you wouldn't see it at a good time. Coronavirus is present there.

I can't really answer this question, but I would think that Google would be a good resource. Krakow is wonderful.

We did this wonderful trip in January, sorry I can't give you the latest on the virus. Could I suggest you contact the tourism centre by e-mail, we found them to be very helpful. A word of caution, if you are flying back from Warsaw by Ryanair they use an ex military airport some 60Km outside Warsaw, not the one in Warsaw that we thought it was, allow time!!

At the rate everything's moving, everything will be closed everywhere soon. Poland's shut its schools already. You've got to bear in mind coming back home, too. You might have to go through quarantine or Poland might stop flights. Stay home, mate.

Hi,

Personally I would forgo the trip at this time, much will be closed and it is very possible that you will get somewhere and become trapped in a quarantine area....Nothing is fully predictable at this time.
